Beautiful display! Awesome content, but in an effort to truly teach people you should be using the correct terminology! With great power comes great responsibility.

A good way to practically convey the dynamic nature of damping. Thanks for the ziptie tip too.
@tomkhodorkovsky14775 күн бұрын
Great video, Josiah! Minor nit-pick, it's actually "Damping", not "Dampening". To "damp" something means to slow down its motion, such as with a fluid. To "dampen" something means to make it wet 😂

So if your zip tie is glued to the top, tighten the compression some and loosen the rebound so the shock can extend to its natural position?

Looks like the TSSFAB lower control arm design. I'm not certain those were ever developed with the idea of it being used on a drift car specifically, but those arms are really neat, and it's cool to see more options for people like I who want to drift a Subaru without any janky steering hooplah involved.

Go turbo...or blower. That stoker motor reving to the rpm you guys are is a ton of piston speed. Maybe less rpm or less stroke with a power adder would hold up better. Im exited to see what you do with this one!!!

I'm sure you can, but i think you need to really put more thought into track day repairs. You got the repairing suspension dialed in. Maybe make the engine swap easier. Practice doing the swap, everything the same, plug and play. Get it as close to an hour as humanly possible.

Im trying to convert to double wishbone using s2000 uprights, would you say it’s easier to incorporate the s2000 suspension geometry or use the geometry from the original suspension?
@filsilva721310 күн бұрын
Why the stock stlye motor mounts? Just a cost thing?
@bennyb.174210 күн бұрын
Maybe just simpler for faster motor swaps.
@foamdataservices6 күн бұрын
They explained it a bit at 4:10 The stock position being higher than their motor plate will be better for ground clearance and allow room for the front mount trans to be pulled back off the clutch more easily, I imagine with a multi disc clutch you need more room to pull the trans and as this car has a rear mount trans from factory they probably decided to take the small weight distribution hit for clearance and ease of maintenance.

When I picked up my 350Z I was drifting with Chineses crap tires Frt and Rear. The car would understeer like crazy and then snap oversteer and spin. Nightmare. I threw some Falken 510s up front and Accelera PHi on Rear. Not the best or most expensive but the car is transformed. Front goes where I point it and the rear has better bite both side and fwd and reacts to throttle inputs. It has BCs and alignment but the tires is where I made the gains.

Considering a lot of competitions layouts have low amount of transitions and sometimes a bigger part for the direction turns, getting lz worldtour canada as exemple, it would be better to wedge the car our left bias the car? 🤓

I would imagine the difficulties it would cause for the human driver outweighs the theoretical higher average performance on a certain track. Unless it's Nascar, then they absolutely do

Sort of relevant, back-in-the-day we ran stock cars and corner balanced them on a regular basis. It was critical to balance the car, although they were setup asymmetrical because we only turned left. We disconnected the anti-roll bars, as you do, but also the dampers (shocks), since they would "hang" a little and skew the readings. We tested that, and it is true. Although, that is much easier with a divorced shock. While I am drifting now, mostly trying, the corner balance thing brings back memories. Very interesting on the front bias of 53%. Maybe you could cover that a bit more so we can understand how differences in bias affect the car. Thanks for the videos! 👍
