a danm commericial just screwed up 90% of my comment so I will start over. I love your series on the MFI system these episodes are cool . They jogged my memory. What you have presented here is very awesome but is for street /strip racers. Your car however, because of the combination has to have that distributor Locked out. the instructions you are reading from will tell you how to do that. In order to set the timing when you put the distributor back in, is to manually rotate the crank to your total advance, then set the distributor in with the rotor pointing at the #1 cyl tower. once you crank and start the engine , you will adjust the distributor exactly where you want it. My email is [email protected]. I would like to hear from you cause I can help you out more than a couple of beers. I love beer too and I'm really old.
@digitaloverdrivesystems6 күн бұрын
@@RobertBuier thanks for the note. Funny enough, i was planning to do another vid showing how to set up the initial timing by rotating the crank to the desired advance when installing it. As far as locked out timing, i agree that that is a common config. I just wanted to explain how the distributor advance functions. Thanks again and happy new year! [email protected].

Hey everyone am i the only one that figured this problem i guess so ,ok here we go the relay yes is popped,all this is happening do to bad or faulty grounding go ckeck your ground cables from your battery i know for a fact there going to be either dirty or loose,thats all theres to it clean them and tighten them up and problem solve for life,ifvyou know about grounding its only common sense if its not grounded its going to heat everything on its path and then burn with time,take care of that ground and problem solved ,the fuel pumps are good and the relays as long as theres good grounding, good luck everyone and god bless
@tigeraudio23 күн бұрын
So during the process of tracing all of this down on mine, and figuring out that the PCM was not GROUNDING the internal relay for the fuel pump, I killed the center section of the dash. Power windows, HVAC, radio are all dead currently. My truck is a 7.3. I assume yours is a 6.0. I wonder if the fuse boxes are the same. They sure look the same.
@tigeraudio23 күн бұрын
In my 2002 the computer was not grounding the relay. I changed the relay, the truck ran for a month, then died again. The second time I put an external relayin and suplied the ground full time and used a key run/start hot to run it. The company that I bought the PCM from also sold me a lifetime warranty, but they have not responded to email. My original relay wasn’t showing signs of any problems, but I still changed it and the truck still ran for a month before it happened again.

I just did the mod. Lights work great, BUT....when I turn the truck off, the led's still stay lit just a little bit dimmer. I'm looking for suggestions. Thanks!
@digitaloverdrivesystemsАй бұрын
@@kc87flhtc not sure what is going on to do that but obviously a slight voltage path to something. You could try putting a bleed off resistor across the led leads. 100k ohm is what I would try. Do you have a power inverter or big amplifier in the truck? Might be a little ac from that affecting the led. Just a thought. LMK what you find. Randy

@@digitaloverdrivesystems Randy, I hate to admit when I'm wrong, but here goes. Long story short of course I did the install during the day. It was very hard to see the difference between off and on. Well when you drive the truck at night, you can easily see that I had the lights turned on manually by the switches. So everything works as it should and I have egg on my face. Thanks for the reply and the original post on how to keep our trucks going. KC

Just found your channel and great stuff!! I've got a real early hilborn setup and the spool is not drilled for the idle bypass meaning it's solid in the center and just has the groove. What are the drawbacks with this setup?
@digitaloverdrivesystemsАй бұрын
You will need to be sure and run a secondary bypass on the line from the pump. That will keep the pressure from spiking crazy high when you snap the throttle closed at high rpm. Call Mike at Alkydigger, he can get you what you need. Hes a great guy and knows his stuff.... Cheers. Please subscribe and share my channel. Randy

@@vernon5932 It would be a hassle. Remember, the nozzles would have to be changed (smaller on gas), plus you would have to flush the system each time you switch so as not to contaminate either fuel... It could be done, but I wouldn't try it myself. Cheers! Please subscribe and share.... Randy

Ford is notorious for hiding relays in weird locations. I remember earlier Mustangs they hid these relays in the passenger fender well. I’m really starting to hate Ford and I’ve been a loyal Ford fan for decades. But this sort of fuckery is bs. These relays and fuses should be easily accessible. Not hidden.
