Hi! Do you use a specific type of engobe or any engobes can suit this technique? Beacause I tried but the black engobes creates smears when I pass the spong, and if I insist it gets away from the carving too.

Mod page is work as water regist. Shellac oil, Wax. Etc. You can paint with Underglaze and over with Wsx or Shellac oil、you can keep the color.
@mallmanceramics20482 ай бұрын
The ModPodge acts as a resist similar to shellac, but it is waterbased so clean up is easier. If you wanted color, you would have to do the underglaze first, then use the resist on top. If you put the underglaze over the resist it will not adhere to the clay.

Hello ! Do you know how to avoid cracks in the texture added with slip ? I was wondering if I should deflocculate the slip, but I don't know to what proportions or if it's even a good idea.

Love it.What is it that is glue like in a small container?
@mallmanceramics2048 Жыл бұрын
The "glue" is slip, which is just watered down clay.

Could you use those tiles as stamps of they are fired?
@mallmanceramics2048 Жыл бұрын
Do you mean as bisque stamps on wet clay? Then yes! You would want the etching to be somewhat deep so the image transfers well.

Does the glue safety burn off?
@mallmanceramics20483 жыл бұрын
It has no adverse affect on the clay. It's a small amount of resist on per with waxing the bottom of a pot. Which btw, you could use wax resist instead but it doesn't adhere as well and sometimes easily peels away.

Can you use englobe on biscuit paces to raise a line?
@mallmanceramics20485 жыл бұрын
Many engobe formulas are versatile and can be used on greenware or bisqueware, but it would depend on the formula of your engobe. Get a piece of bisque and test it out.

So if we are trying to shape the vase. How are we making sure the inside is smooth too?
@mallmanceramics20485 жыл бұрын
Hi Jasmine, I will usually go back and smooth the inside with my finger or a small rubber rib. If my hand doesn't fit inside I will use a tool, like a throwing stick or a sponge on a stick to smooth out the inside bottom edge.
