I came to this episode, by way of a list of 130 American books to read. I am from the UK, but have a love of some American literature from The Great Depression era (think Steinbeck)., this book was noted in the list and is now on my own watchlist. I thought, before I get too many other 'reviews' of the book, why not just listen to the author speak for herself about her own work! So, for that, I am glad and grateful to have found this episode. Even just the opening personal note of favourite teachers, finding fault with you, really hit home in a personal way.
