I have a Nikkor 24 to 200mm and a Nikon Z8. The Nikon Z8 can shoot both. My S24ultra can shoot raw as well. But, for social media and normal size frame, those are fine. But, I had a friend who ordered a photo from me and I had it saved in jpeg. I loss alot and when I tried to print it out as a poster for her, it was not good.

Nah. I only shoot jpg on my telescope, because Adobe still doesn't support fits raw. On the camera, I'll allow mistakes. Shooting jpg is just stupid in Atlantic weather conditions. Constant change in the light.

I bought my wife a Panasonic FZ 200 Bridge camera used for $250.00. It has a 25-600 Leica zoom lens that goes all the way to 600mm at f-2.8 and it takes such good pictures it has me questioning if my Nikon DSLR is that much better. With this Panasonic camera you can take anything from macro to 600mm zoom and never change lens and it weighs about half of what my Nikon with a 28-105 zoom attached. I am now thinking of buying one for myself and just focus on getting out and taking pics.

Don’t worry, you’re a cute couple and will have kids soon, you will NOT be buying the best gear (and sometimes duplicate gear that does the same thing) willy-nilly as you’re doing now. Once you have kids you’ll ditch that status-symbol MacBook Pro laptop for a used but just as capable Lenovo. 🙂

On a quality monitor without KZbin compression I’m positive no one would have any trouble picking out phone pics.

It’s not about the tech specs, but instead about the entire experience, this camera can deliver. I as well have a pro mirrorless set up, and the X100 is still my favorite grab and go set up. Subbed!

JPEG XL is great, but I’m still shooting RAW. I’d rather not have my backups be lossy.

My x100v is my favorite camera to shoot with. It’s not the sharpest thing or the best in low light, but the experience is SO much better! And the film emulation is super inspiring. I often still use the raw file, but the jpegs give me a nice starting point. Though I love it when I nail it right in camera.

Just got my x100vi - All those images look like something out of a movie, really cool man!

What are the chances cloud storage providers are out there lobbying/wining and dining the manufacturers to drag improvements out an extra year or 3 so they can wring a few more dollars out of hoarders, oops, I mean photographers? 😆 (You know the camera companies aren't mad, getting to drag their feet on actually significant firmware and hardware changes...)

Any of the JPEGs you were showing were clearly and visibly a lot more washed out at very large zoom levels. If you cannot see those differences you either don't want to see them, or you should probably have your eyes checked with regard to your glasses.
