CS classes aren’t just classes where u come in to class, listen and do homework. You need to make this a hobby and do it religiously in order to learn. I am going to school taking 4 classes while also working at a job for 32hrs a week. It is hard to learn and absorb the coding information if you’re not coding and practicing everyday.

i'm looking to be a cs major but am still currently in college algebra.. 😭 calc has scared me all my life and i'm afraid that math will be my demise if i take this path ):

i clicked to learn about what to expect with cs but i stayed because i can't move on from how the ring light reflects perfectly on her left eye.

Things I should have known when entering college - Major in software engineering or some other computing field instead of Chemistry - Computing fields are so accessible and can be practiced anywhere (since I owned a laptop), unlike Chemical equipment - Coding on a regular basis is more enjoyable than I had expected - Optimize code while you can - you will run it over and over and over, so don't leave resource hungry loops or processes in there I've seen your second point a lot more on the job than in my personal apps. It can take over a couple hours to debug an issue, while actually modifying the code to fix the root cause takes maybe three minutes. Then, since my code is running against an app that is still in development, changes to that along the way break some of my tests and it's anyone's guess what gets deprecated and how to discover the refactoring needed.
