If I remember correctly - this got a cinema release in the UK in 1989, and then came out on video. I think also Channel 4 showed it a few times in the 1990s.

Reminds me of staying up late in the school summer holidays 91/92. My sister being the oldest and controlling the video player😂 Watching Dirty Dancing, Grease and ghost over and over again! I’d finally get to choose a video and this was always my first choice! I knew it word for word but loved it all the same. Fantastic memories from a time that no longer exists 🤝

At 1hr26min it’s very close to sexual assault. Do you have any Jamaican in you, do you want some? This is disgusting and embarrassing for the girl. This is not humour or entertainment. I never rated Lenny Henry and this proves I was right.

Fun story: I saw Rich Hall/Otis on tour, and he did the same improvised 'Big Bad Dennis' routine (32:40), except I would have been 'Big Bad Nick'. He picked me at the front, but as I was an unemployed student, he didn't have anything to work with. He did however throw a tantrum when I said that I studied music ("HOW AM I DOING, NICK?!") and told him that I had performed on the same stage the week before ("HOW THE FUCK DO YOU THINK THAT MAKES ME FEEL?!"). He moved onto my friend Dan, who didn't want the attention, and tried to say that he was just the same as me. I interrupted, and told the truth that he actually worked at the chicken counter at Morrisons. That was enough for Rich, and he became 'Big Bad Dan', who saved a town from an avalanche of poultry.

His impressions during the intro are on point lol, Lenny really knocked out of the park with this one, it's a pity He's fallen from grace so to speak, and nobody is interested in his style of comedy nowadays. I still say this is the UK's version of RAW and defo belongs up there.
