I would have to say if somebody who has not so steady hands like I do lower DPI is better because you will be shaking less and it will feel more snappy but someone with a steady hand it's probably better for them to play with higher DPI or if you like playing on high sensitivity but you are overshooting or shaking too much having lower DPI could help with those higher sensitivities because it is less responsive so therefore making mistakes is harder so you can make smaller movements without a moving much

Wow the amount of bullshit on the web really is amazing. In game sensitivity and mouse sensitivity (dpi) combine to create effective dpi (edpi). So if you have an in game sensitivity of 1 and mouse dpi of 400 this would be the same as having a in game sensitivity of 0.5 and mouse dpi of 800. If someone is asking about why pros play at 400 or 800 dpi they are not asking about about effective dpi or how that "feels" in game, they want to know why would you choose say 400 dpi @ 1 in game sense compared to choosing 1600 dpi @ 0.25, which are both the same effective dpi of 400 (400X1=400 and 1600X0.25=400). So lets look at dpi alone then "dots per inch". In one inch the mouse translates 400 dots to the cpu, in other words the one inch space is divided up into 400 parts. Dividing that same space into 1600 parts is in fact more precise (because that one inch space has now been divided up into 1600 parts), so the big question is why do "pros" not go for this extra precision?
