can you just the thicker yarn to achieve the same thing , so maybe using only 4 and 4 thicker strands vs the 6&6 thinner strands to make one fat twist?

hy there i would ask ow to make yrn locks really flexibly and not at all stiff? and could you help what kind of yarn was it ..like acrilic or cotton or mix and how thick? Thank you Im in love with the green blonde style <3 like a goddess

I'm over 2 years late but when doing yarn locs it's best to use 100% *acrylic* yarn because those made with natural fibers tend to entangle and fuse with hair. I've been doing yarn locs for about 2 years now on and off and I find that it's really not necessary to dip the yarn in hot water to reduce stiffness in the yarn. After the first 2 days, the material softens naturally and it speeds the process up when I take a hot shower and allow the steam to surround the hair. The brand I usually go to is the Red Heart Super Saver yarn, you can find it online on Amazon and if you live in the US you can try stores like Walmart and Michael's.

Your tutorial was great! I did mine with twist under the wrap as opposed to box braids, but haven't seen many doing that. Is the box braids a better method?
