Looks very good but never had motivation to mess with puff pastries 🥐

Not as hard as I thought it would be. Still terrified of filo dough though that's some delicate stuff.

They looked fine, and I would have skipped the eggwash on top and the sugar sprinkles. Most of the recipies I have seen over the years usually cut the pastry into 4 inch squares and use a couple tablespoons of filling. These look like they should be 6 inch squares and use a half cup of filling. However they are made they are a treat, and they looked great.
@thecookiejarKR4 сағат бұрын
They were really great. But they did seem a bit big for what I'm used to so the four inch is probably what I should have aimed for.

If you let the apples go brown they have a stronger apple flavour, so that's what I do now.

They looked really lovely, I might have used an orange liquer rather than or with the vanilla. And I would have added all the soda salt and cream of tarter to the flour and sifted, but that is the way I learned.

An orange liquor would have gone really well probably into a chocolate orange cream sickle flavor

Looked pretty good, although when I make the almond squares graham crackers, toffee, with a single almond in each cookie, the toffee soaks up all the toffee and turns into a chunk of candied cracker with the whole almonnd stuck to the top. I can eat the whole pan by myself. Not that I don't pay for it! I am not a milk chocolate fan at all so would just use semi sweet.
@thecookiejarKR14 күн бұрын
The more videos I make I'm slowly realizing I like milk for straight eating but baking semi sweet is the one to use.

Yum, I do a graham cracker one with brown sugar I don't think it boils as much and place a single almond or oecan half on the crackers, and they are more like a cookie because you can lift them off the pan, they don't set up as solid. When stirring stuff like thar do figure 8s on the bottom of the pan, it covers the bottom better and keeps your sugar from scortching.
@thecookiejarKR27 күн бұрын
I feel like I've herd that before but my brain never remembers I've also heard to go top to bottom to distribute heat

such a great job. The soup spoon features a deeper, rounded bowl compared to the table spoon, making it perfect for consuming soups, stews, and broths. Its larger size allows for easy sipping and capturing generous portions

They were pretty good but more like a sweet biscuit. An icing glaze wouldn't have gone amiss.
@evamyob8432Ай бұрын
A soup spoon is usually a rounder bowl but basically a desert spoon or tablespoon.any scones I've ever made are essentially a baking powder biscuit with sugar and sometimes fruit. I never cut the butter in that fine, more like pea sized lumps, i also sift my dry ingredients together except the sugar, and mix my wet ingrefients gogether, also have never used eggs. Leave out the egg and add more milk or wster and what you have is sweet drop biscuits. You could have added 1 tablespoon of baking powder and skipped the soda and cream of tarter. However, they look nice, but would have been better with butter and jam.
@thecookiejarKRАй бұрын
Butter and jam were both good on them. After making and trying these I agree with the baking powder biscuit but sweet.

Just made this recipe. Took your advice and didn't do the topping. I did add 3/4 cup of cranberry sauce and tasted the batter to decide if more was needed. I did get a cranberry taste. The cranberry sauce I added I made from scratch yesterday. Just put them in the oven. Will let you know how they taste when they come out.
@thecookiejarKRАй бұрын
I feel like the cranberry sauce you make is always more tart than the canned version. You'll get more flavor with less. I hope they turned out well for you.

My dad used to do these with wheaties cereal, and a whole cherry on top, I been looking for the original recipe, but can't find it, so I think I may alter yours lol
@thecookiejarKRАй бұрын
Well I hope it works out for you. I think the cherry slivers were to small anyway so a halved or whole cherry would be better.

I am in the process of making this for the second time only, and it's my first time with a stand mixer. Somehow I have less pie crust that you do, I don't know how I did that. I think I only put two cups on the bottom and still had less than you on the top.
@thecookiejarKRАй бұрын
Only thing I can think of is maybe not measuring out the ingredients to the full amount? Oh or maybe your pan is bigger so it seems like less?
@joshwilhoyte4453Ай бұрын
@ no clue, people liked them though, so i’ll take it
@evamyob8432Ай бұрын
It would be a good accompnyment to a rich meal, clensing the palket between bites of gravy laden potatoes and dressings etc. I would really prefer a tart cranbery sauce over that but it would be ok. Not my cup of tea either, but might rather serve it in midsummer.

They sound nice, and would probably appeal much more to me as a dark chocolate person. I find either sugar or cocoa powder to be annoying because I always inhale it somehow and end up choking!
@thecookiejarKR2 ай бұрын
I hate dark chocolate so I'm never a fan of cocoa coated items. You could always use coconut or chopped nuts as a coating tho.
@evamyob84322 ай бұрын
@thecookiejarKR that is very true. It would be nice wih the coconut or chopped nuts! You should try doing white chocolate ones, I think those would be yummy with apricot.
@evamyob84322 ай бұрын
They looked like they were nice, but no spark, adding a tsp of instant coffee should deepen the chocolate flavour, and adding a spice would be interesting. A recipe to play a bit with.

They look yummy, the orange julius were sort of thickish but not milkshake thick, made with fresh squeezed oranges and whole milk in a blender, and yes it was a favoured treat, along with the loaded hot dogs. Strawberry Juliuses were tasty too, made with fresh strawberries. As to the criss cross you need a cup of cold wster to dip your fork in between cookies, it keeps the dough from sticking. I think the white chocolate is supposed to represent the creamy portion of the drink, but if so it should have been chopped up finer so it blended better.

I have just recently found your channel and am enjoying it as I listen to the book series. Just wondering - as I skimmed the recipes you have posted, I don’t see Cheesy Biscuits. Did you try those? Am I just missing the post? Thank you for all your hard work!

Katelyn- (not sure if I spelled that correctly :/) No worries about the Cheesy Biscuits…I’m going to try them today. However, I did look at the recipe for Double Chocolate Drop Cookies from Gingerbread Cookie Recipe and just wanted to alert you, if you make these, that the measurement for butter listed seems off or confusing at best. It says 1/4 cup, but then says 1 1/2 sticks, 6 ounces. I’m assuming that it should have read 1 1/4 cups of butter. See what you think when you get to that recipe. Thank you!
@thecookiejarKR2 ай бұрын
@@LindaBehrens Thanks for the heads up. I have read the series before and I know in a book they misprinted the recipe and in the next book they had a page explaining it but I can't for the life of me remember which recipe and which books. Also I love you got my name right on the first try most people use c or i or double n or add a second e so many ways to spell my name. Let me know how you liked the biscuits I'm kinda sad I missed them some how.
