you already had a video about hand grip when turning the follower. However, I've noticed dancer may have more hand styles turning the lady in different positions like close or open one? Do you think all of them are ok? Which one can be better especially when you're facing with beginner and you don't like teach her but enjoy dancing together.
@SalsaBailaProductions21 сағат бұрын
You're right there's not only one way... I would start with palms of hands facing up then when turning switching to palms facing down... that's the first one to know... and then there's others ;)

Wonderful stuff! The technique of Touch and Go reminds me of the Wrist Slip technique in modern jive/ceroc used for double handed multiple turns.

Thank you for your continued support we are you at with your salsa evolution?

@@SalsaBailaProductions thank you. Before the pandemic Covid-19 lockdown we were doing salsa and modern jive/ceroc. It was a bit too much, on consecutive nights, for my wife. After restrictions were lifted, we ventured back onto the dancefloor in April 2022, but only to modern/ceroc. I still practise salsa shines and study your videos. And I notice so many similarities between salsa and modern jive. Recently for example we did the Twist, which is the Sit in salsa. I particularly like modern jive moves which remind me of salsa. So in a way my salsa journey continues along a different route. Who knows, I may rejoin the salsa road one day, and travel on both that and the modern jive/ceroc one at the same time! I believe they are both beneficial for mental and physical health and will hopefully extend life and keep dementia at bay. Thanks for your videos. Good luck!

Everything became so simple when I thought of it this way: On1 is break step step and On2 is step break step. On2 feels more smooth because the break step is sandwiched between two smaller steps. On1 feels more staccato because the break happens right away on the "quick quick slow" measure. To make matters even more confusing Palladium 2 (or Cuban 2?) is essentially the same as On1 - in that it also goes break step step - but we just start the break on 2 instead of 1. It took me years to understand all of this. In the end the beginners cannot tell the difference. But seasoned people stress when having to switch to a different style. It feels as if you are starting all over again (at least at first).

Glad you said it was one of your favourite moves, because the description on screen suggests it's the favourite move of all! It's a very nice move, but of course there are many great moves. PS I'm tempted to memorise this and use it on the modern jive/ceroc dancefloor!

So I’m very overweight (obese) and am a bit worried on general treatment. I’ve heard and looked up a ton of stories where people mention being treated poorly by their dance instructors due to them being overweight. I’m looking forward to starting (I am going to the gym eating healthy etc so working on it lol) but I want to enjoy my time with this hobby. Does anyone have any input/stories or advice?? I’d greatly appreciate it!

It really depends of the environment you find go to a lot of schools do try outs and see how you feel about the whole experience… the last thing you want is being judged by an instructor for any reason…. Use your spiderman 6th sense… the experience should make you feel good;)

So you wore these shoes for 6 hours a week, that is a total of 312 hours or constantly dancing for 13 days straight. It’s hardly any surprise that they are starting to wear out. I walk 3 hours a day in my job and I go through a pair of walking boots every 6 months.
@SalsaBailaProductions29 күн бұрын
They were falling appart way before…the sole was detaching different from normal wearing out which is expected. I also cycle thru dance shoes and i have pairs that last for more than 5 years…also wooden floors are very easy on dance shoes…. I believe when you buy quality and pay good money stuff shouldnt fall appart with normal use;) for example i own german made dance shoes and after 3 years they look brand new.

I'm still curious about the difference between dancing On1 and On2, because the break in On2 is just the same On1 but breaking in 2. It never breaks the 123 567 and replace ir for the 234 678, close to the son pattern.
@SalsaBailaProductionsАй бұрын
Yes close but the steps are different… the son would be the on1 step moved to 2… no modification on the steps. But the actual on2 when theres the 1 beat you step with the right foot… and the pause one foot moves. On1 no feet moves. On son during the pause no feet move. Hope this clarifies

Really, you wear them on a regular basis for a year and expect them not to come apart. Lol. Runners buy shoes every 6 months. Because any shoe will break down with constant use. I truly don't expect any dance shoe to last more than a year with constant use. Good luck with your next brand name you decide to use. I'm sure they will wear out after a year.

My favorite is the lead doing a Metallica hand position with the follower doing the pizza delivery palm. Nobody ever gets their fingers twisted that way and it leaves the follower in charge of their own movement.
