This song used to always make me cry instantly. I lost my dad when I was 7 years old to alcoholism/drugs and I really owe a lot of my current love for music to him. We would take car rides and listen to Santana, The Doors, Hendrix, Elvis Presley, Hendrix, etc. and I took it from there! Thank you Budgie for helping me embrace my loss and RIP Burke Shelley.

New Year’s Eve, 1971, sitting in a circle around a turntable on the floor of some dudes house. I can’t remember how or why I was there, by myself With other longhairs, didn’t know anyone. We played albums til the Sun came up. Everyone was sharing whatever they had. Later we got some pizza’s. They next day I realized I needed people like this for friends, not the crummy friendsI’d been hanging around with. It was a new year, with a new realization. Met my Wife that year.

While agreeing with most opinions below, I have a specific question (to those familiar with music production): what is (how to call) this added effect of a _sonic plasma_, or _molten liquid air_ around the drum kit sound in the drums solo part? It is frequent in 1970s, especially during fade-outs at the end of songs. Does it have anything to do with compression? What was that?
@Ryan_Thompson_Guitarist5 ай бұрын
It's a flanger effect, produced by mixing two identical signals together, one signal delayed by a small and (usually) gradually changing period, usually smaller than 20 milliseconds.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time, I was 17 when I bought this album in 1974, and I still remember the first time I put it on my turntable and the sound poured out of my JBL speakers... what a wonderful time the 70's was .
