Sams trains did a very good review of the accurascale 31 and found some quality issues personally i got the same 31 from Accurascale sound fitted and was spot on i love bacmann but price's are very steep compared to accurascale still better than my hornby class 31s with mazak rot which are now scrap

In not up on what goes were on a Class 31 but both look fine to me depends on what you want. I will not be getting either both are out of my price range plus already got a Airfix banger Class 31 to play with.😂

Accurascale door handles are in the wrong position, Bachmann have them right check actual locos, Big mistake by Accuruscale.

Just checked loads of Class 31 photos, couldn't find a single one with the handle in the Accurascale position.

@@NewJunctionYou need glasses my friend, The 31s I worked at Sheffield in the 70s had the door handles horizontal, The same as Bachmann.

90% Accurascale, 10% Bachmann for me. Bachmann got the roof much better, and the bogies. The engine roof access hatch doors on the real thing has VERY prominent gaps around it which just aren't done heavily enough on the Accura model but Bachmann got pretty much spot on. Bachmann went to the effort of representing the engine and other equipment seen through the bodyside windows, while Accura are just blank, except for a heater/stove in one behind the no1 cab. Bachmann also doesn't have strange holes in the lower beams on the bogies which are present on the Accura model but should not be there. After that Accura got most everything else just that bit better than Bachmann, though the assembly of Accuras isn't very user friendly for maintenance. I prefer the A1A-A1A floating centre axle and outer bearing pickups, the sound is considerably better* (*mine needed the volume turning down to stop the sound cutting out, the same as the Accura 37), and the face of the model is a long way ahead. On the minus side the bogies are a pig to disassemble for maintenance. The sound decoder on mine exhibits the same problem as my second batch class 37, but is greatly improved from my batch 1 class 37. The buffer beam details are a pain in the backside to fit and mine was missing a few /4 components in the detail bag, and the roof is a bit poor in definition on the removable engine hatches. Overall, the Accura 31 is a very good model indeed; but it could have been better. I still feel it the third best new tooling diesel model we've had this year, just behind the Cavalex 56 and SLW class 25. I feel the Bachmann model is also a very good model, but it lags behind the Accura model in just about every area. The speakers especially are very poor, and the models I've had on my workbench to upgrade the speakers for others have all had rather jittery pickups which are best overcome with a stay alive. They were poor enough for me to cancel my pre-order for two Bachmann 31s, I'll wait until they are on sale before I consider buying one instead.

Front of the Bachmann 31 looks too flat in comparison to the slightly bulkier look of the Accurascale one, plus the Bachmann one seems to sit slightly too low which could explain why I was seeing videos where the autouncoupler failed to actually work properly. I've also noticed just how thin the (A Pillar?) is on the Bachmann one. Looking at real photos, they completely borked up the dimensions there, gives it a very narrow appearance. Just from the looks alone I think the Accurascale one wins there, plus it's priced cheaper too.

It must be forty years ago that I watched the driver and fireman argue continuously all the way from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. I was in the leading coach and could hardly hear anything they were saying but it was quite heated! Lovely railway and locomotives, well looked after. I think 7, 8 and 9 have different exhaust chat. How about putting one of the VoR three back into BR blue?😉

Great review👍✌️😊 The weathering brings them to life well (as I hoped). Shame theres not some more weight to them, but they seem to run well regardless and look great. I see that your helper seems enthralled by them too, but, commendably gentle at the same time👍💜💜

Does anybody know if '590' is properly fixed and ever going to enter service? It seems to be wasting its boiler certificate and whilst looking sensational, is a hermit.

A great experience travelling on the Victorian rolling stock. The North Norfolk is a lovely railway. Shame the Holt to Melton Constable section wasn't preserved as it passes through really attractive countryside, with a long 1 in 80 climb up to Melton. At about 80 metres above sea level, Melton must have been the highest main station in Norfolk.

Bressingham is still one of the best heritage sites in the UK. I went last year and it was a great day out, and there was a lot to do. My favourite loco was GER No. 87, and whilst I patiently await its return to the National Railway Museum, it was such a treat to see it alongside the other Great Eastern loco the museum has. I wonder if the North Norfolk Railway should send their Y14/J15 to Bressingham until it can be overhauled.
