Not heard this one before, what an unexpected pleasure, no delight.

Beautiful and heart rending song. Whatever happened to the girl - i do wonder about how her future went or even if she had one.

I first heard this song when Brian Matthew played it on his late night BBC Radio 2 programme in the mid 80s and it stopped me in my tracks. This was the beautiful voice I'd remembered from Fairport Convention's Liege and Lief back in the day. Somehow I'd lost track of Sandy Denny's career but this compelled me to re-discover her music. I know everyone always goes on about "Who Knows Where The Time Goes?" (and it is a great song for sure) but there's something about "I'm A Dreamer" that really speaks to me and I'll never get tired of listening to it.

Just on a year ago we were in Banbury for a family christening and we stayed in Byfield. Whilst out walking about I walked past the village hall ,on the outside wall of which is a blue plaque that says that Sandy played her last concert there on April 1st 1978. I wonder if she sang this truly beautiful song ?

The late Irish folk singer, Anne Bryne does a very lovely version of this song. You can hear her cover on KZbin. Just type her name and the song title, and you can also listen to many other songs she sang.

The song that most reveals who Sandy was, painfully honest. I love this woman,.

This is so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, I will never forget the 1st time I heard it back in the mid 1980`s It makes me cry everytime I hear it. RT has written some amazing pieces of music, but this is just so special.

One of my all-time favorite songs by Sandy and one of her best. This song should have been, could have been a huge hit for her when it was first released back in 1977.

Richard Thompson is masterful as always, but check out Andy Irvine's version, recorded in 1968 when he was with Sweeney's Men. I believe it's the first recording of this old Scottich song, Child Ballad #100.

The lyrics are simple yet raise the profund issue 'What is Life?' Many have stated that earth life is little more than a dream, in other words not a true reality. A few sensitive souls' consciousness either automatically sense such, or perhaps discover this through meditation or whatever. And there potentially lies the beginning of what often becomes a lifetime struggle - unravelling 'reality,' and hopefully making some sort of sense of our own life and its purpose.

Lyrics: You make me nervous when I see you. I can't imagine what it's like to be you. It's a mystery to me every day, And I've got to get away. I put a bet on with a bookie For the race they put on over in Kentucky. It's lovely at this time of year, so they say, And I've got to get away. I'm a dreamer, and you know I'm a schemer with an eye for a show. It's my imagination when I get low, And the truth is I don't think I'll ever go. When the music's playing, that's when it changes, And no longer do we seen like total strangers. It's all those words which always get in the way Of what you want to say. When I wake up in the morning I think it only fair to give you warning I probably won't go away, I'll more than likely stay. I'm a dreamer, and you know I'm a schemer with an eye for a show. It's my imagination when I get low, And the truth is I don't think I'll ever go.
