The mass market paperback is the easiest format for me to read. The shifts in publishing to favor trade has confounded me. I can still read any format, but mass market is the easiest for my hands to hold, plus the size is always convienient for me to bring anywhere.

Congrats on 400 Duncan.I have been watching you from the start almost.I'm enjoying your short stories segments lately,keep meaning to post about them,but besides my own ill health ( Diabetes, thyroid issues, compromised immune system pernicious anaemia to name just a few lol) I also am a carer for my 88 yr old husband who has had several strokes and has dementia I have to fit in reading and following KZbinrs as and when possible.Ah the good old days when I read 20 books a month minimum but reading,especially SF still takes up all my spare time.I am 77 next week and prefer vintage SF to modern,and am reading a lot more short stuff now because of circumstances,and I enjoy quite a lot of what you like.Happy reading! It's a bit of a weird film as it cost a lot of money, bombed at the box office. It was directed by Peter yates (the director of Bullitt) but mixing Science Fiction with Fantasy rarely works in films and I think it confused people. I think it should have done better as much as there's a lot of nonesense in it it is fun and looks great plus a fantastic James Horner score

This defeitely peeks my curiousity. I’m picking up my computer tomorrow by the way. It could easily be repaired and quickly too if they didn’t had to order a special screwdriver to repair it. Lol. Oh well that’s what you get when you have an old computer.

A Special Screwdriver. Thats the sort of thing that happens to me.

I just wanted to let you know that my computer broke down last week and I having problems getting into my mail. I’m waiting to hear if it can be repaired. But I’m working on an alternative so that I can pick up making video’s for Februari. I don’t think there will be a problem on that front. But for my mail account I need to get my old computer back.

Thanks for doing the tag. I read that Heinlein book last year. I always see the Amtrak Wars in 2nd hand shops, might have to take a punt one day..
@backawayfromthedonkey11 күн бұрын
I've not read that Heinlein for 20 years or more (you could probably tell). I think though it's one of the first stories to have a Generation ship in.

Haha- Doon! I found that earlier this year and only read it a few months back. Humour is a very subjective thing, but it’s certainly funnier that “Bored of the Rings”….

I only know Walter Wager for the novel 58 Minutes - better known as the basis for Die Hard 2.

That's interesting because the Die hard was based on a book by Roderick Thorpe (can't remember it's name)

I was given The Black Cloud to read by my 4th year English teacher, when we did two weeks on science fiction. It was a little much for a 14 year old! Now, 54 years later, I'd like to give it another go. More successfully, he also gave me the Ray Bradbury story, 'Dark They Were, and Golden Eyed', to read, which I loved then, and still do.
@backawayfromthedonkeyАй бұрын
That's a great Bradbury story, but they all are as far as i'm concerned. I've not read The Black Cloud (Gavin Has), there is a modern Penguin edition of it I think. I may have to read it now as i'm intrigued to see how it reads compared to A for Andromeda. Thanks for the comment.

I will be online for the premeire My audio is not as good as I would like, I have a new PC and I hadn't quite dialed in the settings. It's likely the case that only I notice this, but Gavin's audio is far better but I get obsessive about such things and wanted to apologise if anyone notices. I hope you enjoy what was a fun discussion.

I was gifted my first brand new kindle in high school at the time (my kindle is 12 years old now lol). I think I only bought like 5 ebooks while the rest I got for free from Gutenberg and borrow from my local library. I’m not surprised though since I was a bit skeptical with Amazon. Also if Amazon is gonna pull this again, they might as well refund everyone who bought the book back or send a notice that will make the customers aware of this before doing it.
