Thank you for watching and commenting. When I first started this channel I shared my fishing locations quite a bit. However, even with the small following I have this has led to some uncomfortable situations where people have attempted to meet up with me while I’ve been out fishing without even contacting me when I don’t even know them. I really value my privacy, and although I would absolutely love for fans to say hello and even ask questions when we both happen to be out on the water, it does make me uncomfortable to be approached and talked to as if we made plans to fish together when we have not ever spoken. Due to this, I no longer feel comfortable sharing where I fish. I hope you understand and still find value/entertainment watching, and I appreciate you checking the video out!

The number one reason you should not add a trolling motor is because you remain sedentary when sitting there for a prolonged period. It is hard on your back and health. Pro inflammatory. Pro atherosclerosis. The only reason you need a trolling motor is to remain competitive on the tournament scene. Period.

Hello, I have a question that you may be able to answer. I’m looking at the Flint for the paddling. How do you think it would do with an 80# Lab dog on kayak with me? I’m 5’12” and 195#. I’m going to fish some but more for paddling with my dog. I really like the open deck. Hope to help you get more subscribers. Thanks Scott

Thanks for watching! I hope my answer can help influence your decision, but please don't base your entire decision off of my answer, as this is the only fishing kayak I have had. In my opinion, I think you would have a hard time paddling with both you and your dog, especially in less than ideal conditions (wind or strong current). The first thing I noticed when switching from my traditional kayak to the flint was that it really takes a lot of work to get it going, and even in the best of conditions it feels like a tank. This is one of the reasons I added the motor. With that being said, it is very stable and solid - you would be hard pressed to flip it, and there is plenty of deck space. On top of this, compared to other fishing kayaks, I have heard it paddles/goes through the water much better than most. But at the end of the day, it is still a fishing kayak, and you always sacrifice some speed and agility for that stability. I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Loved the surface hit in shot #2. And your comment of maximizing fishing time while on the water makes it real. I had no intention of putting a motor on the pelican C. Mode 110 I got. But yesterday I was trying to get to the spot across the pond, against the wind... I have a spare motor, and a lithium battery for my small out board V-hull. SO yeah thanks, I am gonna figure out a transom so i can keep my skeg, I will just mount high to go over it and the motor will be there when I want to use it on bigger waters (the kayak is great but a bit of a tub to paddle). The higher mount will be fine for the longer neck on the motor.

Nice video and well done again. Man some good looking water. That kayak cruises now!! Interesting how after a hook set - especially with tide coming to you - the reds will run toward you so fast that it feels like you’ve lost them. That’s when a very high retrieve ratio on your reel pays off. Can catch up to that fish and keep tension on. I use Lew’s Speed Spools and either 7.5:1 or 8.3:1 ratio. Fun fishing with those spinner baits. I recently used a chatterbait and had same good success. Hoping for some morning topwater soon as well. Way to go and good luck ahead. Cheers!

Thanks, I appreciate the tips! I saw that chatterbait video, awesome stuff! I'm gonna try for a topwater bite soon. It'll be crazy if I catch a topwater redfish before a bass, but with how much time I've been spending saltwater, I think that's likely to happen! Didn't end up making it into this video, but I went way up into the marsh and found some crazy clear water with a handful of redfish up real shallow. There was a ton of grass/vegetation, but I sight fished it for about two hours and they didn't want anything I threw at them.

Very good video with excellent points. I have thought long and hard about putting a trolling motor on a paddle kayak or getting a pedal kayak. For me, a serious auto wreck messed up my back and spine. This means I would either need a extra long tiller handle extension (meaning I couldn't use my crate) or I would have to do a side mount that'd not only impact transportation but also functional usage of my port side. A few kayak companies are finally pulling their head outnof the sand and realizing many kayakers want trolling motors. Unfortunately, most kayak companies have no understanding of kayak angler. For example. Lifetime's new Manta Angler comes with a port side trolling motor mount and an area for a battery. This setup ironically makes it to where you cannot use a ceate and the trolling motor bracket makes it where you cannot use 2 of your 4 back rod holders. For the near $700 they want, and the near $500 you'd have to pay for the trolling motor and setup accessories, you're now reaching pedal kayak money. The best deal I've seen so far is Academy's store brand pedal kayak. It is 10' long, is set up for a fishfinder (i.e., recess in hull with attachment points for a transducer, transducer cover), and is made by Dagger (which is owned by Pelican). At $1k, it is the cheapest, best set up, angling pedal kayak for the money. FeelFree has a model with a relatively lightweight battery insert to turn their pedal drive system into an electric powered motor system. However, you're going to shell out thousands of dollars and their cheaper models lack this ability. Old Town is the first to use technology similar to e-bikes...which is now old technology. For this reason, since this technology is so old, and most of the industry is just copying Hobie's old pedal drive system; I am hoping someone will develop a univeral conversion kit to transform pedal drive systems into a hybrid system similar to an e-bike.

Excellent video again and great effort. And that trolling motor addition seems to work really well. Great job. And yes, you will often catch a lot of bass in the Rigolets marsh bayous. Reds of course also. In the winter that main canal (Geoghegan Canal) holds trout in deeper water. That canal drops to 16’ of depth and has great ledges. Can try the trout for a while and then back into the marsh bayous for reds and bass. Keep up the great work. Enjoy your videos. Cheers. Ps… lots of lure suggestions. I love the Whopper Plopper! @theangriestangler
@theangriestangler 2 ай бұрын
I would say yes with the caveat that you are gonna have to get used to it at first. The flint is very stable, and I often stand up to fish. I have yet to flip. However, you will experience what I can only describe as an “initial give” whenever you lean to one side or the other. This can feel like you are going to flip for about half a second before the kayak balances out again. I have talked to some guys in fishing groups who have said this is normal with any fishing kayak. Basically, fishing kayaks have primary and secondary stabilization, so for a second you may feel some “initial give/destabilization” before you hit that secondary stabilization and balance out again. I’ve heard that overreacting or overcompensating for this initial give is what actually causes a lot of people to flip their fishing kayaks. When you first get it, I highly recommend parking on some Lilly pads or anchoring down and getting used to this before jumping straight into fishing. I hope this answered your question!
