I started locks, mainly because, no, Ok, several reasons. I love my hair. I spend a lot of time with my hair. My hubby adds extensions to my hair. I hate bothering him with that, so I tend to put it off until the last minute. He put tape extensions in my hair a few months ago. They started forming "lock" tendencies! They were gathering up and forming 'locks.' Mind you, long before this, I was entertaining the idea of locks. I could feel the tightness forming in my extensions. I let him know, "No, we're good. We don't need to address my hair right now." I knew what I was doing. I was giving more excuses to transition to locks. And here we are! I have about six or seven locks. I re-used the tape hair extensions and incorporated that into locks. It's only been a few weeks, so I don't know how that will turn out in the long run. I'm learning. Just as my hair is learning. I'm looking forward to this journey.

What is the best method for maintaining new growth with comb coils if I don't want to keep getting my hair retwisted with a loctician?

I always style because i don't like wearing my hair down. My stylist says the same thing... not styling too much. Let the hair breath...

The questions are great but what answers should people be looking for. You can ask the questions, but if you dont know what the answers should be, how do you know what type of expectations to have

I love the idea. But I don't see the point for my own locs, which are medium size.

I have had my locs for 3 yrs. The whole purpose of getting them was to have a break, something easy, and to save money. So after my initial install ( I had the professional done) I took a online class offered my you AND a in person one on one 9 hr training session to learn to care for my locs and how to properly install them. I use the interlocking method on my hair and on the individuals locs that I install. My hair is still THICK, I have my edges & my locs are healthy. I think the main thing is not interlocking no more than every 6 /7 weeks. Not doing all these different styles, not putting a lot of tension on the hair etc.

Why do I keep seeing you saying color wax is not safe for your hair. But give us the reasons why. Because I saw you had blue color on your locs in another video.

The hair color wax I use comes out. It must be a permanent hair color wax. Because I never had that problem with As I Am brand.

What happens? they end up looking better. Your roots don't get stressed out and don't become thin at the base The thing is most people are impatient and want dreadlocks today not in 6 months. then once they get about shoulder length they wish they'd never twisted their hair. The journey is crazy because as they grow they becoming a bookmark. Like when two locks merge you'll note when you realize it and remember where you were in life how far you've come and it happens again and again when they connect and grow amd 3 three come together. You can twist your locks get fake locks, insta-locklock But I can tell you the journey that you go through you can't speed that up that takes time. If you ware a headphones a lot your hair will be forced in one direction and that will clump up If you wear hats... And that's how your dreadlocks will always be yours and they'll be no one's like yours. You're going to absolutely have horrible hair days It's all good You still look like what you look like either way. And people are either going to like you or not like you and it's not based on your hair and if it looks good that day

Omfg... velcro?!! Lord God! My 3 yr old is mixed, he rubs his head on his bed to sleep ans refuses to go wear a bonnet😅! His locs are just past his shoulders and are absolutely beautiful l did dye it, but because it's dirty blonde, it didn't cover the lint... I was JUST going to try ACV... but velcro... my lord that sounds genius!

Yesssss ok, i tried the free from ting, been very chill about retwisting just bc i l dont like the look of my scalp 😂. But ive noticed my fine hair doesnt love it as much as i thought. Im also usong less oil and gonna try the foam for stronger hold bc I use aloe, but my retwist doesnt last as long bc i dont do styles. Any advice for making retwists last longer with no style?? I cant bave my hair in a style longer than 2 days 😭

I went to this place in Maryland. I didn’t want my Microloc’s to be too small so I attempted to tell the lady what size I wanted, I guess it was the lady in charge right in front of me she told the Loctician you gonna let her tell you what size & how to do her hair? The Loctician did do a good job my hair was nice but I didn’t get the size I wanted. If you experience any unraveling you are on your own, they charge an arm & legs. The shop is not interested in providing quality or good service. My experience was they were unprofessional and overpriced. If more thought was put into preserving their clients and not moving on to the next dollar they will have a good reputable Business but in the DMV area they are growing on horrible reputation. My Loctician has had several clients from them go back to get their Locs redone or repaired.

Thank you. I am 1 year loc'd. Hair is healthy and thicker but the same length!!!! LOL. Love how you use humor to convey this point. Even though logically I know what is happening. How you explain it actually helps me to "trust the process" and enjoy it a bit without judgement to myself.
