As an internet stranger, I’m so proud of you and this decision! I had to stop just buying everything after realizing it wasn’t sustainable for me. Now I only buy my 6 star reads and the library is my best friend. ❤

Thank you so much 🥹 It’s really not sustainable at all, I can’t wait to spend more time in the library.

Reading should be enjoyable not stressful. I am unsubscribing from booktubers that read more than 6 books a month because for me it makes me feel like I should be reading more than I do. I want realistic life not fake.

This year starts the change for me also. No more reading this book because everyone else is, no more I am going to read this many books in a year , no more big store shopping it’s all thrift store, library, and Kindle Unlimited as much as possible if I do make a purchase it’s Independent bookstore purchase only. Most of all it’s about reading what I want slowing down and enjoying the book. If I read one book in a month that’s fine with me. I also donate books to my local library and fill little free library stands which I will continue to do. Sending thoughts and prayers for your sis n law. 🙏🏾🫶🏾

Congratulations to you🙌🏾 🤩 You’re heart of giving is phenomenal not so much in donating the books not minimizing that because 100% that is your giving heart, monies, time, and sharing with us your books and great reviews. The way you pivot and still maintain your passion for reading 💖 Sorry to hear about your Sister In-Law. Praying for you and your families journey.🙌🏾🙏🏾

As someone on disability, i HAVE to be very concientious of my spending and that leads to simpler living in a lot of ways... also, as someone who is on disability where books are expensive (25 dollars for a physical book and 35 for hardback) it was literally impossible for me to truly ENJOY a book bc it was such a large percentage of my income example, 4 books in one month would have been 10% of my check! That's a HUGE amount and for myself since I don't work it simply didn't work for me to have such an expensive hobby. I got rid of all my physical books that I wouldn't ever re-read a few years ago as well, they were taking up sooo much space I didn't even realize it, I put them in the little libraries all over my town... I didn't have too many like maybe 50, and I kept about 50, but I think back to when I had all them books and how just like wanting to deep clean a single shelf could take hours of moving heavy books and then dusting each one then doing just one shelf and putting it all back like OMG WHYYYY esp when they weren't going to be read again? Ya know? I think you'll be a lot happier with literally a few hundred pounds outta the way, and if you do decide to collect again you could look at second hand places or discounted places or even trades. Being broke all the time I always bought a book or two (before I had kindle and kobo) and read them straight away, not like I see people now with hundreds of books on their shelves that aren't even read while they still buy more. It's okay for THEM but it's not possible for me AND even if it were I would find it wasteful to own a bunch of books I don't even read! My kindle and Kobo are different as far as buying goes as I will see books on sale for 100% off in my thriller genres and I will "buy" them at 0 cost and they will be on my devices. I also use my library and Kindle Unlimited. I honestly didn't expect to enjoy my ereaders but the fact I have the privilege of reading as much as I want to every single day is awesome and has made reading enjoyable again instead of a source of anxiety around money AND space!

I really love the message of this video Toni. I just started my Booktube and this was a helpful reminder to just be yourself and not everyone else. I love Book Tok but I feel like it can be very just overwhelming sometimes. I am glad to see you living and loving reading and life on your own terms. Much love to you and your family.

Hi Toni! I use to be a book reviewer. I stopped doing it because it messed up my joy for reading. I now read for enjoyment only. I am a empath and I understand your pain. Hugs, prayers, positive and healing vibes. 💞🤗🙏🏾✨💞 Praying for your Sister -in-law.

I used to be a book reviewer as well! I stopped when it became "work" and then I stopped reading for awhile. I started reading again about 3 years ago when I got a kindle... I used to get so excited for ARC's and now I do have netgalley but I only pick books I would look for anyway! Reading is so much more enjoyable when its for ME and not when I have emails and book mail etc always piling up and a calendar full of dates that rarely ever even paid! I hope Toni still reads and shares with us, but I hope she does it because it's what she wants to do not because she feels like she needs to for content!

I love and agree with everything that you said in this video. Book Tok can be very time-consuming and draining. I have been doing what you do and only purchase books that I will actually read and not because it's popular on book tok. Like you, I very much believe in non over consumerism. I want to do more quiet living this year ❤️ I'm glad that the library enjoyed your books. I'm glad that you were able to give back to the Community. Continued prayers for your SIL 🙏🏽
