Who's to blame?? Seriously? Don't you think it's the liberal policies [ for political gains] of these nations who open their borders, for individuals looking to better their lives - only to bring in hatred/ violence /terrorism! High time these nations deport them. Let their countries of origin manage them!

G'day Adam. Thanks for the tour. Years ago I used to deal with HRO Atlanta - Mark KJ4VO - for a few things that we couldn't get here in VK. As per usual, there wasn't anything for 23cm and beyond in the store... That's where the JA markets still seem to be the hotspot for 23cm and beyond stuff... Thanks for the video tour... 🙂 Cheers, VK3BA

I would put down as the off position so if something fell on it, more likely it would switch off than on

If you dont use the gear often.. here is a better idea.. take the batteries out, this saves the battery and they wont leak and kill your equipment.
@SmallSpoonBrigade
@SmallSpoonBrigade 11 ай бұрын
TBH, the leaking of the corrosive components inside the battery is probably a better reason to remove the batteries. Personally, I think most items should just have a real power button. Things like computers not having one does make sense as a real power button means that the you can't have wake-on-lan without another powered device to give it power.

More annoying than the expense is discovering the device won't work when you need it at 2am and the shops selling batteries are closed. 😡

I’m looking to purchase the 710, wondered how the AESS feature toggled on other speakers. I’ve got an old set of Logitech z5500 speakers collecting dust and want to put to good use. Do you turn off the internal speaker ?

Man. That might beat HRO. For the transceivers though, the only difference I've seen between the JA and US spec HF rigs is my 891 didn't come with 60m. I MARS modded it and manually input the memories, so probably no worries there. The 2m/70cm HTs for sure are nearly unusable. I have a JA spec FT1 and it won't go over 146 or 440, even with the mod.

Adam why don't you or someone else build and sell a replacement for the G5400/G5500 controller? These boxes are a pain butt. They have no protection, the design is outdated and I have had multiple transformers go out. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it just a 26vac supply and some switches? Your controller and others do all of the hard work now days. I don't need lame meters with weird bulbs that you can't find. Don't we just need your controller and ac for the motors and feedback from the pots in the motors? Help me out, what am I missing?

Perfect timing Adam! I bought your Teensy interface board a few years ago in hopes of building an EME station. The expense of 1296MHz gear and amplifiers scared me off for now. So switching over to build a linear satellite station. I have a spare azimuth rotor and a spare actuator for elevation so no need for an expensive az/el rotor.

Very interesting idea. Mine are fixed at 30 deg like you mentioned at the beginning of the video. To implement something like this I must extend my mast. Thanks for sharing. 73

Can you drop your existing crossboom by ~650mm to accommodate the linear actuator?
@VA3HDL
@VA3HDL Жыл бұрын
@@VK4GHZ Nope, that's the problem, there is 3el HF Yagi there also. Because of that I liked also that you used a non-metallic crossboom. Less interaction with the HF Yagi. 73
@VK4GHZ
@VK4GHZ Жыл бұрын
@@VA3HDL A longer piece of aluminium pipe then for your mast? That would be a relatively cheap "upgrade" in order to implement elevation control. The reason for using a non-metallic crossboom was to prevent degrading the performance of the 2/70/23 yagis, especially the m2 23CM35, which does not like any metal in it's element plane. And now that you mention it, I'll be putting an m2 6M5X yagi beneath the 2/70/23 yagis, so the FRP crossboom will help there as well.

Nice job, pity that rotor control is no longer available. The metal bearings wouldn't rust out if you packed them with grease.

Hello Adam. I’m purchasing a G-5500 but next summer moving to the Philippines. Their voltage is 220 there. I called Yaesu and they would not provide me a schematic of the controller or share process so I could convert. Would you be able to advise on the wiring mod from 120 to 220 or tell me how to obtain a schematic? Thanks in advance.

If it’s in kit form if it's in kit form normally the lights are off The reason is it’s cheaper to send it. Not sure why, but that’s always been the rule from America to Europe for example

thanks Adam, Happy New Year :) .... something I didnt understand ..... the programming PC needs a RS232 slot or USB to RS232 adaptor cable ? or is that AXE027 cable have a USB connector on it with an internal usb-serial converter built in ? ..... cheers, Dave, VK2TDN
@VK4GHZ
@VK4GHZ 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. The genuine AXE027 programming lead has a standard USB plug at one end, and a 3.5mm male at the other end. Inside the USB end is an FTDI chip. (Perhaps leads from yester year had DB9's?) Some people try and knock up their own DIY lead, but you will need to research this, and watch out for signal inversion or not. Google it.
