Hallo "Modellteich", sehr schönes Modell, top gebaut! Interessante Video-Serie!
@modellteichrc39885 ай бұрын

After you are done fully fairing the hull (sanding etc.) will you also put a layer of epoxy over the outside? Because without that, water could damage the outside wood.
@modellteichrc39887 ай бұрын
Hi, I don´t use epoxy on the outside. But after priming and painting the hull, I seal it with a couple of layers of 2k-varnish (it gives a really hard and water resistant finish)
@sakumar7 ай бұрын
@@modellteichrc3988 Ah. Thank you. After watching the episodes following this one I realized that shiny epoxy would not look right on top of paint.

@modellteichrc39889 ай бұрын

Hi. Do you know that this model is an actual copy of a 21 foot pleasure tug designed in the USA by a Mr Ken Hankinson? It has been copied by the Chinese and made into a model. I have the original plans for the full size boat and have a 24 inch model made of it. The designer has passed away now and the drawings went to Glen-L Boats who now sell the plans. It is called the Titian.
@modellteichrc3988 Жыл бұрын
Hello. While I was building the model I was looking for reference pictures of real boats and stumbled across Glen L Boats. I have little doubt that the kit is based on the plans you mentioned, but looking at the different Tug Boats offered there, I´d say the kit is an exact copy of the "Sweet 16" -type. Hope this helps
@haydenbrown8421 Жыл бұрын
@@modellteichrc3988 the hull is like the Titan but it can have different cabins and also a 3 foot stretch in the hull to 24 feet.There is actually a full size complete one that was built on my local lake here in New Zealand. I almost fell off my boat when I saw it. Very uncommon but to see the real one was unbelievable. I just have my 24 inch model and have not built the full size. Less cost now and no fuel bill. Nice build for you.
@haydenbrown8421 Жыл бұрын
I see the Sweet Sixteen, all similar to Titan and Goliath with just stretched hulls and re arranged cabins. They are all nice and not too toy like, more tug like. They are big on a trailer to tow behind a truck. The hull is nice for a larger model too with authentic wood decks. Maybe I build a bigger one too. Will you sail your boat?

I got up to here with this brittle kit and the deck was off by half an inch, and the sides, too. I think the hull they gave me was made wrong -- it is too small. My work was embarrassing so I had to give up. I am an experienced modeler. You are doing a great job of making a purse out of a sow's ear. On to another wood ship kit.
@modellteichrc39882 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for your kind words! And I can really relate to you, this kit is definitely not an easy task and yes, it cost me a lot of nerves too. That's also the reason why the build time was so long.Thank you very much for your open words, it's comforting to hear that other model builders sometimes get frustrated and lose the interest in a project too. my tip: do not throw it away, just put it away and start another project ... eventually you feel the desire to face the challenge again and if not that's fine too ;) good luck with your projects!
