For me the seventh avenue is warmer and not as aggressive unless you put a lot of air down it. More versatile to my ears.

Hi! Could you please make a review talking about how you feel the flute in each register, dynamics, articulations, etc?
Ай бұрын
Hi Sandra, The flute's greatest benefit is its wooden construction, which makes it sonically interesting and beautiful. As far as workmanship goes, the flute has a few design imperfections and pads don't really cover much, so playing it is challenging, uncomfortable and I use a lot of breath to make the flute sound. When I took it in for repair, I couldn't get a handle on the instrument. Here is a more detailed video about the flute: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO1l4l5hrGUhas

Great comparison.... the Retro Revival is more a MB1 cause of the much shorter baffle. So it is a bit less bright and power full. I like your sound on all. Great job

Very good review. I expect most wood flutes have a warm tone like this. Your first play test piece sounds like jazz which is unexpected, would go great as a duet with a saxophone.

Moresky is so underrated, I think people just don't know about it. After trying their Eb Clarinet (because it's so cheap), I now have the Bass clarinet (to low C), and have ordered a wooden A Clarinet. Took both of these instruments to be checked on by my repairman, he didn't do anything with the Eb and did very little to the Bass. As far as I can tell, these are the same as other Chinese instruments, but they're actually looked at before they ship them, so they don't arrive completely out of whack like your typical Chinese instruments. I have just the wooden flute head, which works with any flute. I was nearly tempted by these wooden flutes, but I think for me getting just the head was a better idea, it is quieter, I don't think I could use it in a band, it's purely for solo work.

I think that better to buy used instrument for the same money, that have a history and help people to earn money. Insted of sponsor Chinese goverment and corporation that didnt care about workers.

Why use the head only for solo and not band? What acoustic characteristics does it have?
@jpl9577
@jpl9577 10 ай бұрын
@@AndieArbeit The wooden head (and flute I assume) is quite a bit softer compared to a metal one, if I played it in a concert band, for instance, you wouldn't hear it at all.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Moresky. I have the whole range of their entry-level clarinets (G, A, Bb, Eb) and their C Clarinet in ebony (a beautiful instrument). I have their entry-level Oboe. If I were to buy all these as brandname student models at a music store in North America, the prices would be about 5x more.
@PracticaProphetica
@PracticaProphetica Ай бұрын
@@dudemaster8575 Entry-level, student model flutes from brandnames are often made in China anyway, as are many other brandname instruments (guitars, brass, etc.). You are just paying a massive markup to the corporation instead. In this case, probably even less money goes to the Chinese worker, than if you buy it factory-direct.

Been playing on Guardala old studio silver mpc. since 1989 when I bought it from Rod Baltimore's in NYC before going to my gig with Lionel Hampton band I even used it that night! I am still using it today and can't seem to find anything better. I am worried that it's gonna give out one of these days or if I drop it by accident. I have a MBII in Gold that I had gotten like 12 years ago from WWBW. The newer teeth plates are garbage not even close to the original pink resin solid ones Dave himself used to replate my studio piece as well as replace my tooth platingI was lucky enough to live 15 minutes from his factory. I recnetly had a friend of mine melt solid plastic resin into the MB II tooth plate much better but this MBII is not even close to my old studio piece.. I also do not care for the Rovner style ligature that the newer mpcs. come with. The Selmer metal alto ligatures are the best for the tenor, ,luckily I found a few spares since they are hard to find now. I cannot seem to find any other old studio mpcs. that I could purchase as a spare. I know there is a company called Retro Revival that is making a Guardala style mpc. but I do not want to chance spending that kind of cash ( you cannot return it for refund) if I do not care for it. I do like your sound of the newer studio mpc. from this video. Not sure if I should chance it! I have a SYO's piece for my alto which is awesome not sure if I should try it on my tenor. I had been using an old studio metal on my alto but way to bright. Any thoughts?

Wow! See, this review WASN'T helpful, because you're such a talented player that I think you could probably get a good sound out of ANY flute! I don't know whether the gorgeous tone is the flute itself or just your talent! xD I'm going to say it was probably you putting in the work and not the flute, though!

@@josevarela9928 There's a pro Clarinetist on YT (Ilya Galkov) who compares a cheap Moresky Clarinet (which he had a bit of work done on) versus his Buffet Tosca pro Clarinet. There were problems with the pro instrument also that needed fixing. It's interesting to watch.
