Just bought an 08 F450 with a blown up 6.4. Ill be swapping it out for a commonrail 5.9. Only part that has me a bit concerned is the need for a lift to remove the cab... I did my last 12 valve swap (on my 98 K3500) in my garage, no cab removal required...

Watching this from Africa. That workshop must have cost more than an entire school here! I'm really struck by the difference in resources between the West and Africa every time I go out the door. I'm also embarrassed by my well equipped workshop. I see guys working by the side of the road making furniture with a butter knife and a bent screwdriver. I know I'm not nearly as resourceful as they are. Nice whistle. Thanks. I'll make a few for the local kids.

I was a little leery of tackling the wheel bearings and chain tension. It’s time consuming but not that hard. I took a link out of the drive chain too without moving the cab. Making a chain press by hand took a while.

Did you use the 6.4 electric fuel pump on the frame? Does the 24 valve you have have a lift pump on the engine? Was curious if the 6.4 pump has enough pressure for the vp44. Thank you

Hey man I watched both of your video's lots of great info thanks .. I am doing the same thing to my 03 f250 ..I also wanted to ask you about your youtube name. Are you a wood worker/carpenter ? I am looking for someone to make some bee hives /boxes for me and wanted to know if that is something you can or do do ? I have the pdf of the build instructions . The only reason I ask is I am from Whitby and when I was watching your other video on the Cummins swap I heard a radio playing in the back ground and it said Whitby Library in the commercial .. Kits vary in price. Depends on you needs. I used diesel conversion they were great to deal with and very helpful. All in I was around 5k. The best purchase was the wiring harness from diesel conversion. Hope this helps.

Is there a preload for the bearings?

I usually do it by feel. Grease the bearing and tighten it up move it back and forth and snug it up tight. Then back it off usually1/4 to 1/2 rotation to line up pin. Sorry it hard to explain how it feels.

Good video. Haven't did bearings yet but had to change a chain. While attempting to adjust the tension, loosening the nuts they all ended up snapping off. I had to remove everything and knock all the studs out and replace with new. I was a little concerned about the sliding section where the oring is so I removed and cleaned up the oring and then wire wheeled both surfaces smooth and applied a little grease so when adjusting the oring wouldn't roll out or up on some chunk and cause a leak.

Which parts? Diesel conversion has most of the parts you will need. Especially the wiring harness Other parts I sourced out from processors garage in Keswick. Hope this helps.

Where are the two sensors you mentioned on in the video that are screwed on the head of the block you said " transmission and temperature sensor" they had red arrows drawn on the vídeo

Another question..Where did you route the little coolant outlets on the water neck down by the ac compressor. Also can't figure out where i can put the ford coolant temperature sensor i was supplied a adapter bushing but idk where it goes it doesn't screw on to the head with the adapter bushing

Sorry for the slow reply I unscrewed one of the plugs in the head and installed the transmission and temp sensor. Ford temp sensor in the top of the block.

Couldn’t help but notice that the CEL and another light were both on at the start up. This truck will be a future nightmare regarding repairs.

Excellent informative video. After installing Cummins did you need to adjust drive shaft lengths and if so by about how much? I just picked up a 2008 F350 mint with no engine. I have a 5R110 out of another 2008.....just need to find a 12/24 valve. Thanks for this.

I just moved the motor as far forward as I could. I did not need to cut drive shaft.
