Always Loved Toots growing up. I’m so blessed to not only have the privileged to listen to his 2008 record (true love) on cd, but I also am grateful to be the few who admired his style Toots’s known style in my area. I’ve lived only 28 years of this life now, and I only met 3 people in passing that know the legend, and only one of them knowing how much of a legend Toots really was. This of it this way Bob Marley is the man and the very known legend, meanwhile Toots Hibbert was the Man, the myth, and the rarest known gift that ever came to reggaes genre. Especially when you go as far as the United States. Rest, but stay sound Toots. You earned it.❤🎉

Then "The Harder They Come" hit the avante garde movie theaters & midnight movies in '73. Already been hearing some of those tunes on the underground stations by the time the movie hit town. Instant love!!! Still, only the independent movie houses would play the movie. It remains one of the most joyous yet most honestly brutal movies ever. If you haven't seen it, try to find it. The film is entirely Jamaican: the music, script, actors & crew...only the distribution is Hollywood.

When he passed everyone thought he would pull through. We were all in shock - hard to believe he is not with us. Jamaica loves him for the Love he shared. A shining example of how to live.

Funky Kingston is a classic album. I first heard of it in a Rolling Stone article from 1980 about Bruce Springsteen on tour. It was the cassette tape Bruce was listening to on the road between concerts and Bruce raved about it- so I automatically bought it.. Bruce also turned me on to Lucinda Williams.
