Remember that American rock and roll audiences didn't know much about reggae in 1975. Mainstream radio certainly wasn't playing it. The closest things that we may have heard were Paul Simon's Mother and Child Reunion, Eric Clapton's cover of I Shot the Sheriff, and a few tracks by The Rolling Stones or the J Geils Band. So Toots was really breaking new ground here. Then fast-forward 20 or 30 years, and Toots was playing festivals and to huge audiences of adoring fans who knew all the words to his songs. He was a pioneer and a legend whose music brought joy to so many. He truly showed the world that Reggae Got Soul.

Lady M. Palmer, I'm one of the luckiest white men in the UK fortunate enough that my parents had black friends back in the late 60's through to mid 70's who introduced them to all the trojan reggae sounds and more heavier reggae groups. But I'm so glad that I was introduced to those sounds at such a young age because it has never left me. My parents had all the trojan reggae label various artists 12" albums that sadly became so scratched or damaged over the years, I think they were thrown away. As soon as I hear one of those tracks played I get goosebumps. I've managed to obtain most of those songs back on DVD and some like Leaving Rome by Jo Jo Bennet, I've had to ask an old neighbour of mine who's friend is also into reggae like me who burned the song onto a disc for me. Thank god that this genre of music came about for so many to enjoy. This track is one of my favourites along with Double Barrel by Dave n Ansell Collins, Hurt so good by Susan Cadogan and many more I could mention. These songs will last forever. So glad you're a fan too.

Plenty of reggae music still happening. Lots of 70s style stuff but you won't find Jamaicans playing it and you won't find people really doing stuff like this anymore because at the time. This was new and people were cut from a different cloth back then than today. Not knocking everyone that does stuff today but it's a diff vibe for sure

I was so overjoyed to see this as my late elderly Mum used to play this in the household growing up. I went to see Barbie Movie and just before the movie began the Levi Jeans story did a little memory advert of Levis coming to Kingston Jamaica with their jeans and Jamaicans loving the jeans. This was something that I never about I had to do the research on it after the movie to ensure its authenticityit looks like there has been a very strong relationship between Jamaica and Levi Clothing Brand which is quite interesting.
