Hello again! I have completed this - except for the motor - and it seems to be working correctly except for that middle bit (the bit with the two small ball bearings in the top). The first two balls go into the cage, when the third one hits all three balls tip backwards down that right hand slide, whereas from what I see from your video at 3:03:55 (and ROKR’s) one ball should tilt forward into the perspex “helter skelter’. So despite cranking the handle and sending all ten balls around the circuit several times, nothing ever goes down the helter skelter, they all go down the right-hand path. I’ve taken that section to pieces and reassembled. Any thoughts? Thanks for the great video!

Hi Martin, you know I always prefer the real time build simply because there is always at least one section that deals me a fit unless I see exactly how it works and the video's you do in real time are perfect. I actually did this build a few months ago and like always I ran into the part that stumped me. I finally figured it out and moved on. Good luck Martin, hoping to see many more real time builds on your channel and Happy New Year my man.

I’m currently building my own and I’m up to 1:14:18, where the crank is supposed to control the shaft and make the marbles move up through it. The crank is very stiff and gets stuck on the shaft when it’s almost all the way up, and the marbles don’t go into the holes unless I apply some pressure to the top. I’ve tested to make sure the shaft can move freely on its own and it can fairly well. Any ideas why it seems to get stuck and not line up completely?
@MartinsAssemblyHaven
@MartinsAssemblyHaven 2 күн бұрын
Hey, I assume you tested it with the marbles there? If you did, it could be because when the marbles try to enter the carrier at the bottom, they kind of sometimes don’t enter fully and the carrier pushes the marble against another piece at the bottom and makes it jam until you kind of wiggle it a bit. Is that the case?

Hi Martin, just an update that I've been coming along well on this. I quickly got to the point where I usually do a step and then review that step in your video afterward. At 1:55:00 you (at first) missed the part that those shaft sleeves needed to be put on flush to the pin ends. I saw this in the manual but it was still tricky trying to maintain the position of this inside sleeves. I was amused that you inserted an edit of the process at 1:57:18 !
@MartinsAssemblyHaven
@MartinsAssemblyHaven 2 күн бұрын
Hey Roger, I actually left them loose on purpose and you should too, otherwise when the marbles started entering that piece, it’s supposed to tilt backwards from the marble weight and then release the marbles, but it was too tight and it didn’t move, hence the marbles got stuck basically. That’s why I left the sleeves loose 😊

i just built this and when i wound it up to give it a go but it stops working after a few seconds. let me try to explain what is happening. the gear's teeth on the back of the cello fit almost perfectly to the grooves of the music box gear. after a few seconds, the teeth of the cello gear no longer fit perfectly and as a result the cello gear is pushed upward along with the shaft. this friction is too great and it stops. i nudge the gear downward so that the teeth once again fit into the music box gear and it resumes but then stops again. any ideas on what i can do?
@MartinsAssemblyHaven
@MartinsAssemblyHaven 4 күн бұрын
Hey David, oh that’s an interesting one. I assume the gears have been sanded and waxed? I know the gear is getting pushed up, but it may help. Otherwise it possibly sounds like the cello gear is misaligned slightly, basically squint or there’s simply something on the inside too loose. It’s hard to tell without seeing it. But I would open it up to have a look 😊
@davidt21
@davidt21 2 күн бұрын
@martinsassemblyhaven after much deliberation I took it all apart and started from scratch. I had no idea the wax was included as it isn't listed in the parts list lol. I was also missing a piece behind the cello. I had to file down one of the teeth of the gears because it was causing the bow to jolt when it moves from right to left. It works well now :)

@Ducksfootpistol Hey, it’s a great wee model and works well 😊 And trust me you don’t need to fold the bands because if you do, and you load it, it stretches the bands and it can and will break the actual bow pieces. Just speaking from experience.

So recommended is 10 I be think from what I remember. If you kept putting more on, you could potentially crack the tip of the AK or even slightly rip out the rubber band chuck from all the extra pressure.

@MartinsAssemblyHaven
@MartinsAssemblyHaven Күн бұрын
That’s not a problem, happy to help 😊 And the instructions will tell you what needs to be sanded and waxed, but a lot of times they don’t tell you to wax certain areas, so what I normally do is, I wax every piece that is in contact with another piece because we want to eliminate friction between the pieces as much as possible 🙂
