This is the incredible mechanical Hypnotic Vortex wooden model from ‪@WoodTrick‬.
It is also my first level 5 difficulty and the biggest wooden model I have assembled.

Martin, I completed the Hypnotic Vortex but can not get it to operate for more than a minute. I have tried this dozens of times. Do you have idea of what may be wrong? I would be glad to subscribe to your feed if you would like. Many thanks, Stan

Hey Stan, well done on completing it. And what could potentially be happening is that the front big wheel might not be as straight as it should be. Try and give it a small wiggle and straighten it out so it’s as level as the big wheel behind it. Just whatever you do, don’t put your finger in the mechanism area or near it, because you could touch one of the wooden pieces by an accident and the spring will go crazy and unwind, meaning you will need a new one, so be very careful and I hope it works out 😊

@@MartinsAssemblyHaven Martins you were so fast responding! I did find that some of the layers of big front wheel had separated and so I snapped them back together. I was sure that that was the problem, but alas after a minute the two big wheels end up going in the same direction and stop I tried 4 times. Any more ideas please? Again tons of thanks. Stan

@@vegstan Hhmm, that’s very interesting. I assume you turned the front wheel all the way to the right until it stopped? And to be honest I’m not too sure why it would keep stopping so often as I didn’t experience this. Sorry about that. You could however send an email to Wood Trick and ask them, they might have other ideas 😊

@@MartinsAssemblyHaven Thank you Martins. Yes, I wound the spring properly. I have written to Woodtrick repeatedly. They have no ideas. I think that what is happening is that the front ratchet is always activated by the rear magnet, but the front magnet only energizes the rear ratchet magnet occasionally.

Ah sorry to hear that they don’t know the answer to that. And to me it sounds like there just isn’t enough power or speed on the front wheel to keep activating the piece on the rear wheel that has magnet. So when the front wheel turns right, it should slow down just enough and click with the other magnet to shoot the front wheel the opposite direction. I would ask you to turn the front wheel to the right and the rear wheel to the left like a flick to get it going again, but I’m scared that the spring might unwind, so it’s very risky.
