I accidentally stumbled on this video after spending forever going through my school books to *unsuccessfully* find the "oliguric phase." Hands down, the BEST explanation and walk through I've seen throughout nursing school, and I graduate next month! Thank you so much for the godsend, keep up the great work!! 🙌

So if metformin had no control of the glucose, how does it lower a1c?
@NurseMinder15 күн бұрын
A1C is an average of blood sugar over 3 months, Metformin does lower your blood glucose through its many actions

Would you draw a comparison between the Corpus (body) Colosseum (colossal) and the speech between two life long friends in that the CC is communication pathway by which the two distinct personalities of each hemisphere amalgamate into single personality?
@NurseMinder15 күн бұрын
Interesting- is this your analogy?
@josephcoon580914 күн бұрын
@ It is one that I have developed after reading various works. I think the initial concept came from Napoleon Hill’s idea of the “mastermind” in “Think and Grow Rich.” There are plenty of cases that support the idea from a tight-knit team that learns to operate without voice communication over time to a long time partner dying shortly after the first one goes. Individuals on a team will learn each other’s reactions to the point they can subconsciously predict those actions in various situations much like different neuronal groups do when mastery of a skill is achieved and conscious attention to those groups become unnecessary. Many individual brains can establish a reciprocal relationship of various degrees including staring into each other’s eyes causing a dopamine response in both.

I see patients all day every day with these conditions. All of which consume the standard American diet (SAD). Eating a vegan diet rich in WHOLE FOODS is the only way to PREVENT/REVERSE heart disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes & some autoimmune/psychiatric conditions. I’ve spoken to doctors who advise AGAINST vegan diets but after taking their BP and checking lipids you would see they are JUST AS UNHEALTHY AS THEIR PATIENTS….BE CAREFUL WHO YOU LISTEN TO

When I was hospitalized all the nurses were great. It was my first time in a hospital since I was 8(tonsillectomy). One nurse got mad at me because an "alarm" was going off. My IV had run out. I didn't want to be a bother. Also, it was around 4am(?) and I was groggy. Someone across the hall alerted the nurse for me. Any advice for me? I just didn't want to be a bother.
@NurseMinder15 күн бұрын
This sounds like a “what should I do next time” question You are not the problem- the pump goes off for a reason and letting the nurse know is the right thing to do. If they come in grumpy, don’t take it personally Second, it is ok to ask the nurse what is wrong

Thank you for your video. Very concise. I was fitted with a Foley on Aug29, and haven't had any issues at all, other than not sleeping very well. Its actually been a good thing as I broke my leg(tib/fib) in a fall on Oct 7th. It has actually made life living in a wheelchair, sofa, and bed much easier. Thanks again!
@NurseMinderАй бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience and sharing how a foley can make life easier! It is a perspective others may not see
@BrandiRussell-q5dАй бұрын
Oh yes, it's so much easier. I only have to empty the bag 3 or 4 times a day. I spend most all of my day either in bed or on the sofa and use a wheelchair for mobility. I'm supposed to attend a wedding out of state next weekend, and the Foley will make the trip and all the events so much easier for me and my family. I "hope" I get to keep it for the next 4-6 months until I'm upright again.

In Canada, we can't legally call ourselves a nurse/Nurse without being registered. It's crazy. I'm in the midst of getting my license back...let it go for various reasons.

I think we cannot call ourselves a registered nurse - because I am a non-practicing nurse per our provinces records

I beg to differ the cleaning technique. I’ve always been taught to start at the site itself and work away from that so it’s not to spread the germs to the site itself. She started scrubbing back-and-forth above the site spreading those germs all over the place then scrubbed over the side itself after scrubbing around the site. Therefore, she was the site itself (point of picc insertion)

Yes - you will find both the circle method and the back and forth options are practiced - I have seen changes cycle between the two in policy in the same facility.

I had a brain Injury in year 2000. They removed bone flaps to release the pressure... Woke up 6 weeks later, learned how to walk, eat, talk, etc. again. 9 Months later, they put the bone flaps back in my skull... a week went by, then my mother realized something was off with me. Asked my name... I replied "Orange". I knew that answer was incorrect, but that was the only word I could think of. Then my right hand side of my body became paralyzed. (Leg, arms, hand and fingers) Turns out I had a fluid infection in my parietal lobe, (on the left side of course) after a couple months I got movement back, ran a 5 mile marathon a year later, and graduated College, so all is good, Though I pretty much became left handed because of that now. My right hand works... but I favor my left now. lol Not sure why I didn't know my own name at that moment though. Once they drained the fluids in the Parietal lobe, I knew my name, and everything else I knew before hand.
