Isn’t it important to tell nurses when you absolotely not should give Metformin? Like lethal lactic acidosis as a result of high koncentration in the liver because of Metformin intake during dehydration? (Especially since a common sideaffect is diahreea which ofcourse risk causing dehrydradation?) Perhaps it’s a good thing to know that Metformin can be lethal taken with dehydration or any other problems with lower kidneyfunctions?

Absolutely - it is part of our work to know when drugs would be contraindicated

I need to do a synthesis of how metformin works in the body, now I understand the process! I just have one question. How does metformin cause some liver functions to go into "shutdown", and what would be the equivalent to the "workers" that are doing the other effect? Thanks a lot
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder 6 күн бұрын
It tells the liver to stop releasing the glucose that is stored in the liver. Like a cease production order

Ok, so I'm 46 and in nursing school, just starting out (week 5 starts tomorrow). I am totally overwhelmed and while working full-time nights in the ED and being a single mom of 3, I'm also exhausted. Thank you so much for this WONDERFUL advice. I needed this more than you can imagine!❤🎉

Thanks so much for this video! In some cultures (often with high population density), it's considered rude to blow your nose in public, so people go to the bathroom to blow their noses. I learned to do that and when I started doing home newborn care I found that many parents really appreciated the fact that I would step out of the nursery (usually into the bathroom) to cough or blow my nose . . . so there's your respiratory!

I loved this video! I'm a nurse who is hoping to return to clinical nursing practice after many years away. Since there's no on-site RN refresher course near me, I created a plan including an online refresher supplemented by textbook readings (bought several new textbooks), review book readings and videos. The carbapenems were completely new to me (might be dating myself there) so I really needed a video that would provide some memory cues and this one was AMAZING for that! Also it contains some important things that were not highlighted or sometimes not even included in my other sources. I've subscribed and I'm looking forward to other videos from you! Also I run a Facebook group for nurses who want to come back to nursing practice and I'm going to recommend your videos in that group. Thank you!!!

I can't see the letter E from 20 or 10 feet away with or without prescription eye glasses. I can see the letter E from 5 feet away with or without prescription eye glasses. My left eye is 100% blind, from a gun shot wound. My right eye can see the letters on the Snellen chart from 5 feet away with or without prescription eye glasses. Am I legally blind, if I can't see or read the letter E on the Snellen chart from 20 or 10 feet away, with or without prescription eye glasses?
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder 19 күн бұрын
Visual acuity less than 20/200 is considered legally blind, but to actually fit the definition, the person must not be able to attain 20/200 vision even with prescription eyewear. Many people who would be legally blind without eyewear can function well in everyday life with appropriate glasses or contact lenses. Ref: theeyeandlasercenter.com/eye-resources/what-does-it-mean-to-be-legally-blind/#:~:text=Visual%20acuity%20less%20than%2020,appropriate%20glasses%20or%20contact%20lenses.

SPO2 PI% PRbpm What do these no. mean?
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder 23 күн бұрын
SpO2 is a measurement of how much oxygen your blood is carrying as a percentage of the maximum it could carry.
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder 23 күн бұрын
PI Perfusion index is an indication of the pulse strength at the sensor site. The PI's values range from 0.02% for very weak pulse to 20% for extremely strong pulse. The perfusion index varies depending on patients, physiological conditions, and monitoring sites. Because of this variability, each patient should establish his own "normal" perfusion index for a given location and use this for monitoring purposes.

Salt is very important electrolyte, the right amount of salt is needed to supply sodium negative charge into the bodies sodium potassium pump. , It would be best to be in control of your salt importing into your body, plus your Potassium importing into your body. Best keep away from already salted foods that are sold in packages. Quarter of teaspoon salt and 25mg Potassium twice a day Spread out 3 days a week to two days a week,or one day a week..Stay away from all bought salted foods.
