"The exact amount"....I know what you mean. I'm a songwriter and I've discovered that in my own vocals. Takes a while to get to that kind of awareness. (It's only taken me a few hundred years....) LOL!

“I think there are better singers” Such an unnecessary and rude comment. There will always be someone better than another in a certain aspect/s.

I love when proffessionals analysis great singers. They can point out what makes singers unique but why is it so good when they don't follow the rules? I love the imperfections in Cave's singing. And most people love Bob Dylan who sounds like a cat. I also love opera where perfection is the goal.

If you're gonna stop, at least f-ing rewind a few sec before continuing and don't skip ahead and stop ruining the song with your own worthless singing.

I agree with you that her ability reaches way beyond the norm. The tragedy is she is no longer with us. Thank God for blessing her with a gigantic talent and God bless you and others for reacting to her. I loved Cindy Lauper. But Eva is other Worldly. Cancer might have overcome her physical body, but her soul's ability will live on forever.

The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is sad resignation. The Sound of Silence by Disturbed is Dammit, LISTEN! ***** The Warning ***** "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made." ~ Paul Simon "And the people bowed and prayed, to the golden calf they made." ~ Old Testament
@chudwickmt

I love how you mentioned the turn he made at “and so the people bowed and prayed…..to the neon god they’d made”. It was righteous anger, like Jesus storming the temple and overturning the tables of the merchants, money-changers, and charlatans. Simon & Garfunkel’s original (brilliant) was more a wistful lamentation of what we had become. David, by the final verse, turned the song into an admonishment (admonition?) of humanity, or lack thereof. “Pull your heads out of your asses, people!”

Sometimes great singers don't know how great they are personally. I feel it almost a blessing record companies didn't get their hands on her and her band. She was stubborn yes, but to keep all those wonderful styles she could sing was pretty amazing rather than being stuck in a pidgeon hole. She is a truly amazing vocalist.
