Thank you my friend. I have always tried to give my daughter the attention I never really received as a child. We did further our studies of szabla in Poland since making this video and we do enjoy helping people like me who are interested in learning.

Just in case, as I wrote on the FB group: it is a Hungarian sabre. It is a late 17th, early 18th century sabre. There was a misconception these appeared much earlier and they were often referred to as 'Cossack sabre' in literature, hence Bohun had this in the movie. I have no idea why these appeared in literature as 'Cossack sabres'. The chainguard was the cause why these were dated earlier, since some PolishHungarian sabres were equipped with those chainguards presented in Stockholm from the early 17th century. These are very particular, nice sabres, I like them myself very much. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for the information. I love the overall style of this sabre and always wanted a chain guard after seeing the movie. We are planning to come to Poland later this year or early next year, depending on circumstances, so we look forward to seeing you again!

The fact that you are comparing the Cold Steel to a custom made saber says a lot. I just got one and am pleased with it for my purposes; Mostly display and learning basic moves. Thank you for your review and passion. I just hope my wife doesn't "borrow" it for her Tai Chi practice.

Thanks for the review. Lathes are known to have been used in Egypt and Greece 1300BCE, so likely Japan had manual lathes some centuries ago. I would be interested if anyone knows any history of lathes in ancient Japan.

Ironically I know very little about the history of lathes even though my first job was running one to make banisters and verandah posts. I always assumed they were relatively contemporary, possibly from renaissance era, but that was just a guess.

@@jiskodadski3208 I have seen makeshift ones on TV simply using a sapling as a spring, rope and a foot-board. Wrap the rope (which is fixed to the sappling and the other end the footboard) around the piece to be worked and peddle the footboard, rotating the work back and forwards.....bla bla bla

While the topic is interesting , never have Polish tribes pre independence nor after neighboured Hungarian tribes or independent Hungary, the influence of the Austrian/Hungarian familial ancestry to create an Empire/Commonwealth was short lived to the cultural differences was short lived in modern history nothing more than a land grab, Hussars were heavy cavalry so the emphasis is on horse back & not romantics, a part of historical tactics of the time, a lot less manpower to quell civilian & rural rebellion & uprisal (protest) due to living standards & ruling class, Dinkye/Дякую, А то будє брєд сївої кобили 🍻😉🙂

Every time I face a quandary like: is this one item better then the other? Obviously yes, but is it 3x better? Usually the answer is no...its funny how once you get to a certain level of functionality vs cost, the diminishing returns really kick in and you start paying a lot for little improvements.

A $29 stab vest is never going to protect anything. You would need to spend $300+ for a proper stab resistant vest. Ask yourself what is your life worth. For some professions $300-$600 or more is not a lot to help protect your life. Stay away from eBay, Wish, Temu etc for anything that's designed to protect your life. In fact stay away from Wish and Temu altogether !!
