The mold that Lima made for ALCO was later (when the two companies merged) used by Rivarossi for a whole series of models... a beautiful train set. The freight cars are very beautiful. Greetings from Verona, Valter.

Thanks for the info, I'm on thin ice here as I was not in the US yet (came here the first time in 1974 for a student exchange in Boston). I found this in France, and the seller did an excellent job packing the set.

Ich weiss nicht, wie alt diese Lok ist, aber die war im Prinzip unbespielt und ich musste erst die Gelaender, Lichteinsaetze, Kupplungen und diverse Anbauteile an den Fahrgestellen anbringen. Sie ist sehr schoen detailliertem Metallrahmen und Kardanantrieb auf alle 6 Achsen...

Hello Alberto, thanks for your comment. After some bad experience with other US brand rolling stock I gave it another try, and this is a great quality design: all metal chassis with cardan shafts driving all 6 wheels, plastic body with add-on handrails (there is also a set of metal handrails I didn't use) and smooth running performance.

The 428 first series locomotive is one of the most beautiful (historical) Italian locomotives. In my opinion, it is also one of the most beautiful reproductions that Rivarossi made. Congratulations also for the freight cars, truly representative and iconic of the period. ciao Valter

It's nice to be able to exchange a few words with people who share the same passions. The 428s are a glorious production of the Italian State Railways ... all three series have been well reproduced by Rivarossi, including the last one (the aerodynamic one). Of all the series, the one that fascinates me the most is the first, the one you featured in this video. Congratulations again. I will be publishing little during the summer period but will resume intensely in September, publishing many videos of Rivarossi American locomotives. I look forward to and follow your videos. @@anzianodellarotaia Thank you very much for this nice comment. I agree that the 1st series is the best looking of this loco, it has something of raw mechanical power to it. I do enjoy exchanging comments with you as well, as my interest in model trains is mostly in rolling stock and putting together as close as possible historically correct trains. I may get into building a more elaborate layout that has some nice parade tracks, but at the moment that has to wait until I have either sold or found another place for my extensive model car collection... I look forward to the American locos as I do not have many of those, but am interested to learn.
