I like Mf Ghost, but it’s lacking the charm that Initial D had. Initial D is my third favorite anime, and Mf Ghost will probably never come even close to that. Takumi is probably my favorite Protagonist in anime, aside from the JoJo’s, and the rest of the cast is also great. The plot is engaging with believable stakes, and the races are really cool to watch. Not to mention, Eurobeat is my fav genre of music Edit: I should note that I’m friends with several car guys, but I myself am not one. Initial D, Eurobeat, Mario Kart, and a little bit of Need for Speed are as far as my interest goes

What a weird review.... 1. Kanata is a chick magnet BECAUSE his personality is sweet 2. Kanata's motivation makes prefect sense from a personal perspective. MFG is a super prestigious series in this world and it pays a lot (like, a lot a lot).... so he didn't fuck up his career. Wanting to find his dad is perfectly reasonable 3. The weird sexual shit is valid 4. The initial D non racing content was just as flat and uninteresting. No one watches a racing anime for the romance. 5. As I said before, the premise makes perfect sense. A boy is abandoned (as far as we know anyway) by his Japanese Father. As soon as his mother dies, and he turns 18, he goes to Japan to look for his dad (Again, that makes sense) and he tries to do it by becoming famous in THE MOST POPULAR RACING SERIES IN THE REGION as well as physically looking for him! what does not make sense about that?

It isn't creepy he like girl 17. In the UK in Japan and many countries legal age is 16. So 17 is fine. Even in the US most states have laws for 16 with 4 year gap so 16yo can be with a 20yo. 5:41 today? It started in 1999 with Tokyo Xtreme Racer. While the anime only has some good tracks for some of us (Feedback Landing and all Devil Z songs), ALL Maximum Tune games excel in that department and for me that Trance style is better than eurobeat. (WMMT OST is so great that you can listen to it while doing anything really) The Wangan has that unique charm to it for me that makes it fun to drive and never gets old, and I just like driving cars be it in a realistic way or not.

To be fair Initial D just showed japanese cars, because in that years 80s 90s, the big part of cars that take place in touge were JDM, due to the low cost. In MF ghost, we are talking about rich people with sponsors and so on, who can afford an Lambo or Ferrari just for fun. I dont think Kanata is Overpower... Beckenbauer and the French guy are at the same level at least and we dont know if they are even better than the main character. About the story of the anime when they are not racing, i dont find it boring. There are smalls detaills going on like the moment where the mom of rem notice that Kanata learn really quick just by seeing the japanese simbols making reference to the great Photomemory (idk if it is good writed) that kanata has, explaining why he could drive in that way from the very beginning. Of course there unnecesary stuff... and i dont think we need to mention here it is really obvious... ehem Fanservice. but yeah i find it a good anime in general like 7.5/10

I watched wangan midnight and while I initially did not find it pushing me to the edge of my seat like Initial D did, I appreciated the fictionalized depiction of the car culture. I agree that the characters were not built very well but I interpreted it as there are people who are that passionate about cars, tuning and speed that I just couldn't relate to them. The fact that most of the characters are consciously throwing their life away for a passion which brings them nothing but pain and loss is something a rational person would not do. But nothing about wanting to go 160mph while risking the public is rational. That part is a stark difference with Initial D which sets spotters and clears the touge or atleast tried to do it for a race. The only character I could relate to and his car has my whole heart is Eiji Kamiya in the Blue Mitsubishi Evo V. He is inspired by the idea and wants to join in like most of us, does dive into the madness of pushing his car to the limits to catch up with the speed demons of the show, and lifts the throttle to save his car when he's close to the limit. Is that not realistic? Is that not human? Is that not the love for cars we share? If I could not understand Akio or Tatsuya's actions and determination, I can relate to Eiji who could've given himself to the Wangan, but realised the price and stopped for the love of his car.

You are correct, the racing is fun to watch, but the Anime obsession with Under age (pedophile) sexual images is down right shameful. Close up of the little girls non existing behinds and stupid relationship questions have become an eye sore in this series. But I will give them credit, they did pick up the racing action a bit more in season 2, so far so good. But as far as it being a successor to I.D., NOT!

MF Ghost its a Worthy sequel in my opinion, its actually a good sequel, but not better than initial D even in 1000 years. In my opinion there are other ideas better than MF Ghost. A prequel of Bunta. A prequel of Ryosuke and Keisuke. A prequel of Takumi using 86 with 13 years. A sequel with Takumi and Keisuke beign pros. But after all i like MF Ghost.

i agree with also every points you made in this video except two points. 1. about "the p word character. just a reminder Japan's legal age is 16 but that kind of relationship is somewhat frown upon. but japan being japan. it still somewhat close off from the rest of the world culturally. so if judging from japanese's poi dating 17 yo is legal but a bit creepy. and the other point is sexualizing of female charters (angels) i remember that race queen in skimpy outfit (one piece swim suit mostly) still exist in japan at a time the manga came out (at least).
