I studied this opera while in the 7th grade. I never forgot the story, words and music it had. Fortunately, the teacher was literate and also sang, which I didn't appreciate at 12 years of age. Non the less, it has remained with me since then.

+william redfern If you don't like G&S why did you watch this. These operas have been going for over a century because people enjoy them so much.Gilbert was a master of using the language to paint a picture and tell a story, and Sullivan was a doctor of music who wrote many well known pieces of music including the hymn,"Onward Christian Soldiers". These operas will continue to be loved for many years yet by those who can appreciate them. They were both knighted by Queen Victoria for their efforts.

Gail Multop ain't that the truth! I recorded this when my daughter was about 4 years old. She had been to her first opera 2 years before . She was a quick study she loved Hansel and Gretel especially the witch. I was a tenor and I would do the witch and she would do both parts Hansel and Gretel. I wish this was available on DVD does anyone know? Please let me know would be deeply appreciated. Thank you very much Arnold Bourbon Amaral
