Hi there, looking like a promising project. Two questions for you. 1) How did you go about making your elevation map? Is it by feel/gut or is there a procedure you followed to generate the topology? 2) Where is the link to the stack? I might be wrong, but I think it was left off, and this is my first contact with your content.

It's kinda arbitrary, there could be more, but these are teh ones that are connected to any dungeon below the surface.

Really good video and a great way to do it. I agree on the Army size. It would be easiest and quickest to do with the 11 units. Great video. I have done it in 5e. A little wonky, but doable.

Units attacking from the flank are the next higher class, not units attacked are a lower class. This also avoids the attacked units getting to count twice in the combat once for the flank attack and again for the front attack. I think you could make a case for the unobstructed flank attackers from round two moving around the back and the other two moving to that flank.

This was a good guide if your stumped on how to make a engaging fantasy map. I always like to cut my own maps in half from corner to opposite corner with a river, I just love having river travel be part of the economics of my settings. All kinds of fun water encounters too with those encounter tables in Monster Manual II (even has stuff from the fiend folio which is a great boon imo). And once you start adding roads you can add the added danger of fording rivers, and keep bridges sparse in your settings except in the civilized interior, and when you do add bridges they should get a reputation for being well designed if they last.

This was a good discussion. I think pushing the calendar 8 months ahead for 1 group is too far an advance. I'll reiterate the thought I had on twitter about Time travel: "I figure Time Travel works just the same. Though they may be displaced 100s or 1000s of years in the past/future they still operate on a calendar basis (in-game) which can be corelated between sessions like standard 1:1. Even groups only flung a few years into the future are still tied to some calendar. But given they are so (relatively) close to the time at the table, it is possible the table game naturally catches up with the Time travel start point and the past group starts to encounter the actions of the future group. I can foresee issues of a group going back in time but close enough to the table group that it could cause problems. But with strict time keeping records...maybe not?"

I may have missed it, but can you clarify the tax the mentioned. Is this the rate from AD&D or does Tonisborg have its own tax codes?
@WargameCulture9 ай бұрын
For the campaign, I have set up a five gold piece entry fee, and then a 10% tax on any treasure removed from the dungeon. I also played a dirty trick on them, and the commander of the Tonisborg guardians talked them into taking a banknote instead of lugging all that treasure. When they went to cash in the bank note the governor charged a 30% Tonisborg tax. LOL they did not think that was funny, nor did they choose to figure out a way to avoid that tax in the future.

@@WargameCulture 🤣😂🤣 ...as an aside I recently came across the interesting passage under Peasants, Serfs and Slaves in the AD%D DMG that details how often they revolt, and how quickly it escaltes.

Came back and have run and played a lot of 5e. It's meh at best. I didn't know the basic bolts of setting up a campaign the old way, we just did modules. Arenson's major early dungeons were Blackmoor and too a much lesser extent, Glendower, Gygax and Kuntz created Greyhawk dungeon next and then came Tonisborg. So broadly speaking Tonisborg is the fourth dungeon created. The only caveate there is that Greyhawk dungeon kept changing whereas Tonisborg and Blackmoor were much more planned and never really changed.
