My current fav distro for low resource demand is AntiX 23 ... MX's lightweight sister and I love it. After years of depending on Lubuntu I find AntiX to be a superior replacement which is even lighter. I now think I will replace Mint on my most powerful laptop with MX-Xfce ... as it appears to be a better mid weight alternative.

I run mx-linux kde from a usb drive as an emergency repair os. it's great and it boots from legacy or uefi pc's. Love it.

nice video. i've found Linux Mint (LM) unreliable since it occasionally crashes. i've seen this on both wilma and virginia ie Linux Mint v21 & v22. Also LM doesn't detect wifi on a fresh install which causes its own level of frustration. Keep up the great video. I love your friendly approach and attitude! Stay awesome & greets from NYC

When I tried the first procedure to downgrade from Ubuntu 24.04 to 22.04, I got to the partition creation page and found it all filled in, since I used this video to install 22.04. However, I could not use “Install now;” it was grayed out. What must I do to activate “Install now?”

Finally a click and play Linux. Always wanted to use Linux as my main OS, but always had enough installing everything through terminal and stuff. Linux would be a lot more popular is it was a lot mor user friendly like Nobara :)

Ok guys, please don't make fun of me lol, cuz I'm very new to Linux, a mere Pop OS plebeian. I thought text editors were like Notepad? Wich now I assume has all these powerful functionalities too but in a sucky way because microsoft? I need to learn this power! Just now getting into programming so a good portion of this video flew over my head but I had no idea I could use my text editor as a terminal and ALSO to aid in coding. Do they all do this?? I love you nerds.

I stumbled upon with micro when I needed to copy all in a text file. Nano didn't let me ctrl+a so I searched for a much better editor. Micro came in that point. Since then, I use micro.

I initially loved Micro when I first tried it a couple of years ago, as it's very capable and extensible. But then I started to run into a few problems related to copypasting and formatting when working over ssh. As simple as Nano is, it at least has been very reliable to me, and it already comes working out of the box when I'm using a new VPS. I'm glad exists. I'm installing Micro again to see if those bugs went away. It'd be awesome if they did, because it's an amazing editor that I'd love to use with my servers.

Nano has a flag (“-/“ or -modernbindings) that makes the bindings more intuitive (ctrl z for undo, ctrl y for redo, etc)

Linux does not run* exe files as it is windows exclusive. You could use wine if it is an installer

Installed on my All in one potato. Sign on pay bills from my bank and sign off. Got the Dell All in one for 20 bucks. Laptop with MX23. Laptop dual booting 19 and 23 From Arch to Debian based. I had 19 set up for Raspberry Pi stuff and VR's did not want to start over. So split the drive with GParted and added 23. Installed it on a Dell Inspirion 13 Touchscreen Laptop/Tablet the touchscreen works no hassles. Mint is on my Gaming Rig Dual booting with Win10. Other than that and just installed AntiX on a very old IBM G41 Thinkpad I grabbed for 10 bucks in a thrift store. MX is my goto. Started with Red Hat in 1996 from Linux for Dummies CD's. Have probably tried them all since.

MX Linux was the very first Linux distro I ever installed back in the early 2000's. It's always been fast and efficient. But I'm so happy to see it's finally getting the recognition it deserves 👍

I discovered this distro just a few days ago. Let me be "childish" for a second: I like the fact that it's made by an Italian guy (I'm Italian)! ^_^ It looks really good. I'm not planning to switch distro anytime soon, Fedora has worked fine for many years on my pc, but I believe I'll put my hands on a a new Dell XPS sooner or later, and Vanilla might really be the best choice then. Hopefully, Vanilla will get an ARM version by then.

What i am trying to do. i have an extra ssd drive where is all my user files, with this i mean : documents, audio, video, music & downloads have their own harddisk. Like this (in windows) after fresh install all i have to do is assign the folders to become my video, documents, music etc folder. it is very easy to do in windows (rightclick the folder) so if my windows ssd breaks i will never lose anything because all my important files are on a seperate ssd. In Linux (mint) which i installed this night and is test running there seems to be no option to do this? i don't want to move something, it is fresh install so there is nothing.

Mint is my favorite distro. Another one I like is Manjaro because it works right out of the box. I have used Kubuntu and I love the KDE Plasma desktop it has but my favorite is to run Mint Cinnamon and install KDE on top of it. I've been using Linux for about twenty years but I have not learned much about the actual commands, not that I haven't wanted to, however.

Nano is fine. If you need something more use Vim, Emacs, or even better; an actual code editor! Like VS Code or Kate.

I am 63, a Linux user since 2005-ish, and experienced in all from Ari to Zorin. MX KDE AHS works best for me. As I am writing here, banks and insurance companies in South Africa, airlines and airports in the US are blacked out after Microsoft updates. MX, being Debian-based, is the winner, as I use KDE apps, also for syncing my phone. Ryzen 7 5.10GHz, 96GB DDR5, 4TB SSD, 8K video editing in OpenShot and KDEnlive, CPU intense. Oh, RTX4070 8GB as well, but will get e-GPU. 😊
