Not entirely sure what you are trying to achieve here but I do like to experiment too! This is quite an unusual technique - I kinda like it. Showing fails is also a good thing as that's how we learn. Keep on exploring and experimenting. 🥰

This truly is an amazing set and Journal Swap and I understand why you want to treasure this forever 🤩🤩🤩. Yolanda made it so gorgeous and added so much ephemera, truly stunning 😍
@yolandaf5782Ай бұрын
Thanks for making this wonderful post Rose. You are right, the first book is an ephemera folder with hardback cover and the second is the actual stitched journal. The bright beaded trim can be coffee stained or dyed to coordinate with the journal if you want. I absolutely love the journal you made for me. I felt bad because you did so much stitching in the journal you made and I didn't. Enjoy your journal.

It's absolutely gorgeous. Can I ask where you source such beautiful vintage ephemera? I'm wanting to make a vintage magical themed gratitude junk journal. I'm excited but I never know where to get good quality ephemera that doesn't cost a fortune. Lol

Ok, you already know which one’s my personal fave 😂 but this is making me feel all autumnal - and, the way those fall leaves pop against the dark avocado paper is just YUM. Also you should sell those pressed-leaf-on-antique-envelope-notepads in the shop. They’re just so elegant, understated but add the perfect natural touch and they’re useful, too; perfect for hidden journaling. And I know not everyone has access to pressed foliage but would love the aesthetic.

Wendy Lady you have so many freaking good ideas!!!! I paused my Red Journal because I start a project and it seems everybody then releases their journals that are the same colour as mine and I'm oblivious to what's going on so I made those two journals and now I'm back to the red one ( lol ) 😂

I think the freezer paper is coated with plastic, not wax. So the iron melted the plastic, sealing your cheque permanently to the freezer paper. Actually I just saw "wax and polyethylene" on the box when you held it up. Polyethylene is a type of plastic.
@teresadavis92832 ай бұрын
Just the melting plastic does act as a glue. You can use plastic shopping bags as glue between sheets of paper using an iron. Or glue bags together (with a piece of silicone on top) to make projects out of them.

This is a much better representation - I’m sorry you had to do it twice, and I don’t know what was going on with your camera, but I really appreciate you taking the time to do this! I second the iPad filming rec, provided you have enough space on the device. iPad tripod attachments are widely available and cheap enough on Amazon - I had to use an iPad for years to shoot still product photography for my shop, and have no complaints.

I know this will sound melodramatic but not a week goes by that I don’t regret not purchasing this journal. (Eight months is a lot of weeks lol). It’s my perfect journal from the papers to the colours to the tabs, charms, dyed laces, and ephemera. I thought the dimensions would be too narrow but I’ve since purchased a smaller journal somewhere else and I’m sure I could have worked with them, especially since you included so much glorious blank space to work in. It’s gorgeously embellished but not overly so. Like I said, my Platonic ideal of a junk journal. I thought about trying to make a similar one with the papers you sent me but I could never reach your level of craftsmanship (main reason I don’t think I could do a trade, sigh) plus I don’t want to copycat if that makes sense. I still have the papers but they’ve been folded and cut down for multiple different journals I haven’t even finished yet, lol.

Love how you kept with the theme throughout and all the beautiful references to the Mayflower and precious details; and just love the colors! Beautifully done!
