Awesome cover and what a great band. They made the right move ditching Richard Hell and getting Billy into the fold, although I did dig the Voidoids too.

Agreed, the Heartbreakers are criminally underrated! I may do a guitar cover of "Chinese Rocks." And speaking of Richard Hell, a bass cover of "Blank Generation" could also be in the works. NYC was just brimming with talent in the mid '70s.

You’re burying the lede: she was attempting to follow the officers’ directive to “drop the pot”-not protect herself from them. Both times this order was given she did not have the pot in her hands. Guns drawn, threat to kill made, order given twice for something she couldn’t do (drop the pop)-because she didn’t possess it. So, to stop the threat/follow orders, she finally grabs the “steaming-hot” pot of water that rests above her head and DROPS IT-hot water falling from it-as the “officers” yelled at her to do. Simple. These roided-out cowards need to be rooted out and work in a field somewhere. Positively contribute to society for once.

It's so great to see you playing old school funk, Aaron! You've certainly got a strong feel for it! My ears are telling me you have flat wounds on that J-bass and that you're playing with little to no bridge pickup and some medium compression - am I even close? Either way, another job well done, man!
@schepler25 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks again, Dan! The J Bass has nickel-coated rounds (Rotosound). Plus, I roll the treble all the way off and EQ it a bit so that it sounds nice and round. It helps to compensate for the attack of the pick--although from everything I can gather, John Persh played with a pick on many songs. Compression is probably 4:1 on this track, I don't remember.
@Bassistdan15 ай бұрын
@@schepler2 OK - good to know! As I mentioned my EARS were telling me flats - but my EYES ------ they were seeing some sort of round-wound string because there's no inkling of glare being reflected despite the bright light. Not only did you do a bang-up job on the playing, but you did a bang-up job on recreating the tone from those days!
