My biggest gripe with the lithium boxes is when I need them and they are not charged enough to work, then take hours to charge where this takes minutes. Both have positives and negatives.

With the 1.75" studs and 1.25" spacer leaving 0.5" of stud, will the cutout in the wheel be enough for that? Hey Again Brother.... I am having second thoughts about keeping my Blu-ray input's Source Level at +9dB on my 2800; I'm thinking of going back up to 10, due mainly to the fact that the films played on my Panasonic UHD BD player, running through this Denon via HDMI, just seem too "weak" in the audio department at this level. I know I had reported some edginess and slight clipping at +10, but if these input leveling systems in AVRs work the way I believe they do, it doesn't really matter because the amp is merely allowing you to hit a louder master volume at a lower number - so you can keep it on 10 and simply not ride the master volume that much to avoid the harshness. What do ya think?
@T_B_C_L26 күн бұрын
@@MikeMargolis-j8f I would honestly say, going up 1db should not make a huge difference but of course this may be the threshold to your particular ears that's needed. +3db is usually double the output but not necessarily perceived output. Like I said before the level adjustments are there to balance the gains from different inputs and outputs. The best way to test clipping is to use an oscilloscope and test the sign wave at reference volume. You can get one for pretty cheap on Amazon now days. My advice would be to definitely not run it with any sign of clipping. This is what will quickly damages speakers.
@MikeMargolis-j8f26 күн бұрын
@T_B_C_L Thanks for your response, as always. Indeed, I know these input leveling features are for balancing the output between sources at a preamp stage - but I have always used them (including with previous Onkyos) like a gain stage increaser (as you were attempting to do in your video)... almost like those input level control knobs on old power amps. My goal is always a louder output at a lower master volume number; it's just what I prefer. Of course, you are correct - clipping and distortion will kill speakers quicker than any amount of clean power. I wouldn't go higher than 10 on these input level settings on any amp/AVR. But as I said in my previous message, the way it works is that the receiver will automatically compensate for every "+dB" setting made to any trim, whether it's speaker trim or an input level value, so if, say, +12dB is added to a channel, the overall available maximum volume will now be 12dB lower. See what I'm saying? Theoretically, there's no way to "overdrive" the amp section because the available power is reduced in response.
@T_B_C_L26 күн бұрын

@MikeMargolis-j8fАй бұрын
@T_B_C_L Thanks; when it comes to every AVR being different, I don't think that's necessarily true with regard to the input leveling we're talking about. For the most part, these leveling systems work the same way (actually Onkyo eliminated this feature on their receivers, which they called IntelliVolume, and it's a reason I went with a Denon for a replacement). However - you may be on to something because I suppose when an AVR is more powerful than another, the input level will work differently. The main issue I have with leaving it at +9 on the Denon is that I have to now bring the master volume up more than before; on my Onkyo, +10 allowed the overall audio to be much stronger at a lower master volume.
@T_B_C_L29 күн бұрын
@@MikeMargolis-j8f in a perfect world volume would be equal to the sum of any equipment, unfortunately this is not the case. Even having the same exact piece of equipment or in this case Avr, there will be differences in components used at the time of manufacturing, along with just minor differences overall. The good units like Denon, onkyo, pioneer etc, of course have a QC that all units have to meet before shipping. Now this is just on the avr side. The whole point of adjusting this level input is what exactly it says. Every piece of equipment delivering the signal to the avr will be different as well. Tvs, Xbox, Playstation, Bluetooth, etc. Some may deliver a lower signal while others a higher signal. Cabling have differences as well. I could go on and on. These newer receivers try to balance everything especially during the room correction process but I still think user input and adjustments are required for the most desired sound by the user.
