Have you watched Mark Lewis's video "Want to enjoy every run? Be more dog." If you enjoy running, just run and when the hills get too steep walk until you can run again.

Really engaging account; loved the simplicity. Planning, pacing and self-care (including proper eating) are every bit as important as fitness on these long duration events. I felt for you with those blisters; they can make life disproportionately miserable. And getting them so soon 🤕. Thanks for sharing ❤

Love your energy throughout this run and the “be where your feet are” is a life changer! I applied it the following day after watching your video while working an extremely challenging day at work out in brutal weather. What a difference it made! I’m now constantly bringing myself back to the present moment by thinking these words and they are going to be so valuable when I attempt my first Ultra in a couple of months. Thank you so much and looking forward to watching more of your videos! ❤

Thanks so much - no it's not marked, I personally relied (too much) on GPS on my watch, until it died lol! So I've since done a map reading course (and admittedly, still don't feel confident and still rely on my watch!)

Hi Mia , your words completely resonate every video it’s crazy and so true …. Had a break from running towards the end of last year after ultra trail snowdonia 50k as I thought I should physically and mentally from ultra training but tbh it’s opened up loads of stuff …. On the comeback trail and booked some races now tho but now have a dodgy knee from work 🤬that’s life tho - great work Mia all the best for the new year !

I laid down on the floor and listened to your video. Great content, I’ve been thinking there is a more confortable and safe life waiting for me. I’m wrong. I know that life awaiting won’t fit me. I like to struggle, I know there is nothing like ending a day and knowing I’ve done my best, even if it was painful. And I thank you for reminding me this.

I am not a commenter but I had to comment on this. I was diagnosed with ADHD a couple of years ago and I spent a large part of last year working really hard on myself. It was hard and painful and exhausting and so very, very worthwhile. Everything you say here resonates with my experiences. I am intense and I now love that. I embrace my extremes and I'm so excited for the future. I've always loved doing hard things, I've been into outdoor swimming for a while, I love my ice baths and I've recently got into ultra marathons. I used to hide these things and pretend to be 'normal' but I just don't do that anymore and since I've stopped hiding, so many more opportunities have come my way and it's the best. It's exciting to hear about someone else who is on the same journey, best of luck and go get it!

Thought provoking film Mia it sheds some light on why we are drawn to the edge like a moth to the flame, and why despite after the times we touch it and feel destroyed, and we’re fearful of finding it again, we know deep down we want and have to keep touching it to find the growth.. this film provoked lots of reflection over last years Chester 100, when my knee blew up at 46 miles and for the first time in quite a few challenges I fell over the edge completely, the last 7 months I’ve been avoiding thoughts of revisiting the edge as much as a boxer might after a good beating. Watching this film has confirmed what I already knew deep down, that I need to go back to Chester in April because that’s where the growth is.. happy new year..

Hey Mia! This is another real masterpiece! I'm finding the "answers" are usually there is no destination, rather it's all a journey....and there is no point, which is the point! What a great poem by Rachel. I checked out the link for the book and I guess living in Canada makes the website unhappy for mailing. I do see an option to get it via eBay without punishing me with too much postage....just wondering if there is an optimal place (other than amazon) to buy it where Rachel benefits the most?? Thanks, if there is an easy answer! I'm looking forward to your 2024 journey and wish you all the best for learning and discovering. Keep smiling!

Hey Mia! I just got back from my (much shorter) race...I mean "event". I saved your Doc so I could watch it undisturbed or distracted. As usual it was so well done and listening to you and your insights is a real treat. As a "lone wolf" I do understand the connection we need with people. Fortunately, I never had someone leave and make me default to a life on my own to be safe etc. It's too bad you did but you have such an amazing mind you are taking that journey to heal and discover what makes Mia tick. A great journey we should all follow (for ourselves...not just yours..haha). As you said as people, we are a little fkd up. We can all learn! Your other line about having the recognition that there is a "time to be courageous and dance"....well I may just have to steal that and put it on a t-shirt for myself. Sorry...I digressed! It was great to hear you talk about the ultrarun(s) as a time for slowing down and being present. It's so true we can't step off and hit the stop button and be in a warm bed all dry and comfy. In many cases we are where we are and the "stop button" is a finish line hours away, followed by a drive, followed by a shower etc etc. I'm glad to see you're taking a break to let your body recharge. Hope the biomechanical knee issue is a quick fix. Maybe a couple shorter distance races to tease yourself and remind the mind and body what is in its future! It was great to watch you cross the finish line here...and online when I tracked you while in a warm dry house at around 6pm my local time...seeing that crazy rain in your part of the world! What a great achievement and what a great place of discovery Mia! Thanks for a great documentary and sharing your thoughts & feelings with a raw honesty!

Ahhhhh! thank you for your words, always. I hope you race-not-race went well; regardless of distance, or outcome! I appreciate your words hugely - so thank you. My knee is ok now - just got a wonky donkey leg (which I knew about and have ignored lol), so the wintering is beginning of sorting that out and letting my body recover from the year. It was lovely to hear and know that people were following, and so funny there was a finish line camera, as I had no idea haha. Thank you again my good friend. It means the world! and if you ever make t shirts with that on, please - let me buy one!!!!
