Thanks for the nice video. Nor really fair to compare a RIC with a Squier. The RIC is semi-hollow, the Squier is a solid body. The RIC produces a wider range of tonal variations than the Squier does. While you don't like the RIC neck pickup sound, it actually produces quite a mellow sound which is great for mellow jazz playing or muddy distortion. I had an '87 330/6 for a few years but let it go because I found my Stratocaster with its customised pickup switching system a much more flexible guitar. However, one day, I am going to buy a Rickenbacker 12 string guitar because nothing comes close to producing the jangle and chime of a 12 string Rickenbacker except for a Rickenbacker 12 string. But it will be one with toaster pickups. I agree with you about the Hi Gain pups ... they are just too hot ... the classic RIC sound can only be achieved with toasters. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

It’s good to see these issues. I’m buying this guitar as a project guitar. Thankfully, the parts I planned on changing will address these issues. I was planning on getting the descendant AOM bridge, which is can be dropped right in to the j mascis with no mods. It’s actually cheaper than the universal descendant bridge. You can adjust the radius to whatever you need. I may also replace the tremolo with a genuine fender trem with the lock feature. It is inexpensive. The neck feel is super easy to fix, especially on a matte neck. I just rub some 600 grit sandpaper on the back of the neck. I do this without hesitation on any guitar I buy that I feel needs it. I never stick with the factory neck feel if I don’t like it. It takes seconds, and is nothing compared to the fret leveling and dressing I do on a new guitar. Thanks for the demo.

I love Rickenbackers, the sounds, the design. Id make a few changes and they dont make one that puts each feature i want on the same guitar. Need to build one myself i guess, lol. Need to find a Dentist that'll let me play some of their collectible wall hangings.

He does bring out some valid points about the 330. However, it must be remembered that Rickenbackers are built in a time honored tradition. Sure, they're not for everbody, but then again, they don't try to be...

I have a vintera 60s modified with the "hot" pickups. I'm in love with the guitar, but man... These pickups are such a mixed bag. They have zero versatility. They're beautifully clean, but the bottom is so heavy and the top is just shrilllll. It's ear piercing, especially through my boost and distortion pedals. You can tame it, but you lose the note clarity. I love this guitar, but idk about these pickups...

The neck is just fine. Mine had a few little rough patches but after only 4 days of playing on the settee it’s a smooth as silk. The tuners are cheap tuners as is the bridge. I never noticed the tuners or the bridge at all & I’ve changed the stings. Not sure exactly what you were expecting? It’s a Squire not a PRS The fret dots are yellow. Complaining because they’re not white is like complaining because the pick guard isn’t black. You’ve bought a sub £500 guitar & you’re complaining about QC issues that some guitars 3 times the price have.

Two knob system is not very versatile when you want to shape middle position sounds... It is just marketing: how to show less pretend to be more... I don't think that a pro musician is bothered by too many knobs on a 335 style guitar. :)

I got mine just today I have not looked at it in fine detail but I can confirm that the neck is a bit rough there was a couple small splashes of yellow paint in the body close to the neck the other thing I’m still trying to figure out if this is a problem or as intended it has a sort of phaser/tremblo sound that for me is bit annoying it doesn’t resonate very much it drops after 3-5 sec and completely stops after 8-10 this version was made in China not sure as to history of where it was made but that could be a factor

I understand your disappointment but you can't compare guitars and cars. I've worked in guitar manufacturing (quality controle) and a lot of things can move during shipment because of vibrations, temperature switching, humidity etc... You can set up a guitar well, send it, and a few weeks later you receive an angry mail, because wood and springs move easily. I always tell people to only buy guitars they can try, like in shops. This way you can select the best. Aside from set up, some guitars from the same series are better than others. Buy the one that have mojo! And if you don't feel it, keep your money for later.
@HelpingHandAlias
@HelpingHandAlias 8 ай бұрын
Thx for your input. It is a time ago i made this video and can't recall what i said in detail. The general problem with jazzmasters is the bridge for decades. There is a huge market for jazzmaster bridges, shims and buzzstops from other brands. And all for the reason that Fender still sells jazzmaster with shitty bridges and not right neck pockets. So, if you buy a jazzmaster you buy an incomplete guitar. That is what i wanted to tell.

@@HelpingHandAlias You're right, same issues since the beginning. And when Fender start trying to fix it, as they tried with the CP JM (not the best improvements, but at least they tried), purists become crazy and say "it's not THE real JM"^^
