you can clearly hear the difference, i like the darker stock/neck pickup, and the sd for bridge distortion

Same here.😉 The dimarzio has a totally flat eq - no low end and nearly mids. I always play neck pu, so the stock bridge pu will stay. Thx for watching.

Moin.

Hello, I have a few questions about this Affinity HH Jazzmaster. I own one myself and got it set up by a guitar tech, as the G string would pop out of the nut often, and I don't quite have the tools or experience to adjust intonation, pickup height, action, or neck relief properly. I can and have looked up tutorials on it all, but I just brought it to someone my friends and acquaintances trust with their guitars. It now plays flawlessly. Anyways: 1. It seems like the second Affinity has had its pick guard cut to fit the new pickups. Is this because the stock pickups are a smaller size than normal humbuckers? 2. Have you made any modifications to your main HH Jazzmaster besides the string trees and the tuners? Were those significantly beneficial upgrades? 3. The aforementioned guitar tech recommended that he swap out the nut and bridge saddles, which I declined to do. Would that be a significant improvement? Have you ever thought that was necessary for this guitar? 4. I came to this video because I am interested in swapping the bridge pickup for a humbucker sized P90, because one of my favorite guitar players (Justin Trosper of Unwound) played on single coils or P90s for nearly his entire career on guitars like the Univox Hi-Flier. All of them had quite microphonic pickups, judging by the lovely feedback on their early records and live performances ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eH6lnK2Cf9dsmqc ). Would swapping in a humbucker sized P90 foster this feedback to some degree? Yes, I'm aware that Jazzmasters do not traditionally carry P90 pickups, and I'm not trying to emulate that tone anyways. Thank you for reading my (dumb) questions and creating niche content about these lower-priced guitars. I gave Dresche a follow on Spotify - you make this guitar sound wonderful! Greetings from Florida.

Hey there. There are no dumb questions.😉 First of all please watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGGVpXyjmMpmd6c It blows away so many myths about guitar tone. You're right. I only changed the string tree and the tuners. The stringtree is more or less a cosmetical change, but the tuners are a big improvement in that case that the guitar now stays perfect in tune. I never saw the need to change the nut or the bridge saddles. Possibly the former owner cut the pickguard. I am not sure and habe to check that later when i am home again. When it comes to pickup changes🤷♀️. What can i say? Only that it is all personal preference. A p90 is a single coil, that tends to hum at high volumes or using distortion. I don't see a common fact that they tend to feedback that much. My first guitar was a semi-acoustic hh. It feedbacked like hell, so i thought at that time (30 years ago) it's broken. Years later i detected that it had no sustain block inside. So the whole body vibrated when i came near to the speakers. Hope i could help you a bit and thx for following Dresche.❤

@@HelpingHandAlias Thank you for your detailed response! That video certainly clarifies the most significant factors in tone from the guitar's end - the player and the pickups (height and type). Amplification definitely matters as well, but I doubt I will ever find a Sunn Concert Lead head at a reasonable price, let alone find a reasonable volume to play it at 😅. From browsing Google and the squier talk forums, it seems like as long as I find humbuckers specified for fender string spacing, it should be a drop in replacement. Getting a mounting bracket is also an option. For my novice playing, I'll keep my guitar stock for now - I do enjoy how it sounds so far through my budget Vox amp, especially the neck pickup. P.S. at one point, Trosper did mount a bridge humbucker to his ET-270, and it still produced quite a bit of feedback. P.P.S. no excuses for me anymore :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJbFZ3tpotN4l68

how did you play 2 riff?I really want to learn this
@HelpingHandAlias2 жыл бұрын
If you mean the second. I really don't know anything about chords and how they are called. I am a totally autodidact and teached myself playing guitar. In the second playing i bend the strings all the time and that makes it sound this way. Thx for warching.
