The enantiomorphic pattern eternally recurring in The Elder Scrolls series paint a very gruesome and sad picture: It is a universe where cycles of betrayal (The Rebel's uprising against the King), violence (The King being deposed by the Rebel with the help of the Observer) and destruction (The Observer getting maimed) are engraved into the very fabric of it's existence, and echoing and repeating and recurring into itself like a fractal.

It's always been my hypothesis that the Dwemer either intentionally or unintentionally brute forced a process of inducing CHIM, but because it wasn't achieved through a long process of meditation and abstract self-discovery, they didn't know how to handle the prospect of being totally unreal in light of the existence of the Godhead, and they all collectively zero summed. Arniel's quest seems to further reinforce that hypothesis because you're also dealing with a Dwemer attempt to hijack the power of another powerful artifact that's tied to the very foundation of creation, namely an Elder Scroll.

think about it as several parallel planes of glass and instead of the world serpent eating its tail and being a perfect circle it jumps to the next plane of glass leaving the skin of the last and so on. if you look through the front of the glass it would look like its eating its tail and also that the worlds are combined. MK said the dreugh world is still there so thats how i see it. as for what it means for the head of the snake to leave your kalpa or plane i have no idea maybe the function of time.

Heartbreaking I am only finding this video 4 years after publication! Chim seems to be at least in part inspired by Buddhist or Hindu enlightenment at least to me. With the large amount of eastern religion inspiration/influence we see in the lore I lean towards that. Specifically Kalpas or the cycle of the worlds rebirth being a large connecting thing in all the elder scrolls religions from redguards to Nords. With the world serpent and akatosh/alduin respectively
@Aramithius8 ай бұрын
Oh, absolutely the inspiration is there. It's down to the fact that MK was a comparative religions major in college

As far as the mission statement goes, this is not really accurate to reality on the part of this forum writer. The fluidity of storytelling has very much been subject to how different groups of people interface with stories, which can be wildly different through time and geographies. My guess is this notion comes from a romanticized but highly patronizing idea that legends and folklore come from something real going through a gauntlet of imperfect telephone before the creation of robust writing systems but this isn’t really true. For example there’s a Kyrgyz epic called the Manas which is one of the longest epics in the world but despite being so long and for the most part explicitly reproduced solely by oral telling for hundreds of years by nomadic people, there has been very little variation of the story between Kyrgyz groups and the idea itself springs from an assumption created by European men who thought other peoples of the world were lesser than they. However! That may be somewhat uncharitable for me to say, and I do think that the argument against canon remains relevant because stories have certainly become much less dialectic (I hope that’s the right word for what I’m expressing) between the stories itself, the audience, and the storytellers. My problems with c0da and its fans are a little more muddled currently as I’m still figuring out what all this is, since I’m pretty new to the more esoteric aspects of TES, which is certainly much more fun and energizing than the more mainstream tendencies the mainline games seem to be inching towards

it's not pronounced like that. Also why use cringe neo pronous when they're never used in-game?
@Aramithius Жыл бұрын
As far as I'm aware, it's never actually been produced in any game, so any pronunciation is up for grabs. I use ze/zir pronouns for Vivec because it's not 2002 any more. Kirkbride has said that if he'd written the character again he wouldn't use the term "hermaphrodite", so I feel justified in its use. I've also been contacted by intersex individuals who listen who've said my use of those pronouns makes them feel seen and included. I'm happy to adjust my language to make folks feel welcome.
@MaRaX93 Жыл бұрын
@@Aramithius Vivec was described as the magical hermaphrodite, borrowing from the hindu tradition. However, he clearly refers to himself with male pronouns. You choose to use cringe neo-pronouns because some American told you he/she feel included, despite the character never being referred to as such.

The duality of Atmora/Aldmeris is an interesting idea. Given that Aldmeris is an elven homeland, elves worshipping Auriel, time itself and humans worshipping Lorkhan, the world, space. So Atmora being a homeland of humans, who despise Auriel is figuratively without time and Aldmeris not existing in physical space.

In my opinion a Dragonbreak is all and nothing at the same time. It explains thousands of players changing different aspects of the games. Example: Some player might kill the emperor in skyrim while others will sell the brotherhood to the Penitus Oculatus.
@maradjade18482 жыл бұрын
Crack theory and I know Todd has stated that the universes are not connected but could the fallout universe be the events of a dragon break while it is happening? I know that you said time in non linear during a dragonbreak so I guess it's not possible??? The Numidium sounds a lot like Liberty Prime. Big Walker and the the warehouse could be an Army Base.

I can't say I'm sure of the mechanics of the process but it make a lot of sense to me for Talos to be a consolidation of Shezzarines- not a new Lorkhan so much as the loudest echo of the first one. That idea justifies the Thalmor's extreme obsession with bringing him down, and it would explain why the numantia intercept says he reinforces reality.
@AstralLaVista Жыл бұрын
Tbf if he was a new lorkhan it still makes sense as the high elves see Mundus as a prison created by lorkhan to separate mortals from being original spirits

I always assumed that the difference between having knowledge of the concepts which supposedly lead to CHIM and attaining CHIM itself was the difference between knowing something and understanding it- I know what death is, but can I say I truly understand it if I've not experienced it? I think that's where the Enantiomorph plays into this. In CHIM, you are one with everything but retain individuality by balancing the contradiction. You are one but not one. That is constantly how the Enantiomorph is portrayed; many who are one but not one. Maybe that's how it works; to achieve CHIM (universal oneness with retention of individual persona) requires first an experience of Enantiomorph (personal oneness with retention of individual persona.)

"The ultimate explanation is, it's a computer game, so you don't need to think about it anymore." I'm going to throw my card in on here. Chim is realizing you are in the dream of the Godhead, right? That's not so different from realizing your a character in a video game. This actually leaves you in the same position you started upon attaining Chim, only the console/computer is the Godhead. It seems to me the forthwall explanation is ultimately just another metaphor for Chim. It all comes full circle. Characters that attain Chim eventually distance themselves from Nirn and stop caring about the mortals, gods, and the realm itself. Because, what's the point of it all anyway? It's just a dream/game. So, why think about it, or worry about it of it's not real? I think that's the point where Amaranth becomes necessary.
@jonathonq46512 жыл бұрын
This is very obviously inspired by some kind of occult knowledge like hermeticism or some other kind of mysticism. The part which breaks the 4th wall is that you can have chim in our reality too, because this is all a collective dream or simulation but that doesn't mean that solopsism is true ie. you know that other people are real as well as you since they can communicate novel information to you which you know didn't come from you. I really love how the lore of this game goes this deep into metaphysics. Imagine in an alternate reality on our planet where this fictional metaphysics became a religion. It would metaphorically still be true, despite being embodied as a work of fiction. In other words, fiction can convey the same metaphors that religions do, and what the metaphors signify can be real aspects of the universe despite the metaphor itself being fictional
