My husband and I are about to go on our eighth Viking River cruise (having 2 ocean cruises behind us, this will be our 10th with Viking) and we have been in a Standard level stateroom for 7 of those trips. What we discovered was that the common areas of the ship, including the Observation Deck, allowed you to see more of what you came to experience on a river cruise in the first place. On top, there's a 360 degree view of beautiful places and countryside. From a state room window or veranda, you only get to see a limited view of the river. As wonderful as it is to step outside of the stateroom and take in a few private moments of the river and countryside, the savings allows you to take one more excursion or two along the way. In the end, all aboard get the same thrill of adventure and eat the same wonderful food that a Viking cruise extends to everyone. River cruises are our favorite and your trip sounds thrilling!

Utopia and Icon are not sister ships. Utopia is the 6th Oasis class ship while Icon is the first Icon class ship.

how are they for acccesable. i saw one in a video docked at a port stop. and it seems there is a large stairs??/ i would probably use a walker and have problems with stairs??

Went on the Amsterdam to Budapest itinerary last year, stayed in a standard stateroom. It was tight, but the only times it felt really cramped was packing and unpacking. Otherwise tight but OK.

I was so scared I was on the cruise ship when it happened.

Awesome place & booking on a cruise is totally any one’s wish .. when I was young I remember my parents taking us in a big ships and I would admire the sea view at night .. it used to be scary but awesome too .. all around sea and nothing else but when we used to cross any land there used to be lights and that was so good .. remembering childhood days 😇 it’s all memories I have .. love the luxury rooms and your review. This is my favorite handbag for travel. Like you, I keep my phone in the outer pocket, and passport, cards and cash, on the pocket closest to the body. The big inner pocket I use for sun glasses, sunscreen, lunch, sweater, etc for day tripping. I use it as my handbag when flying, as the large inner pocket holds my iPad, prescription meds, and anything valuable I want to keep close or will actually need on the flight. As an Australian, I am usually flying out on an Asian airline with very strict carry on weight limits, so this bag together with my 14” under-seat spinner keeps me reliably under the tightest limits. I lock the little spinner, so if I have to put it in an overhead bin a long way from my seat, or gate check it, my stuff will be safe. For an evening bag I have a little anti-theft clutch with detachable strap. I use it to carry my miscellaneous electronic adapters and cords while actually travelling. I dump these out in my hotel room and use the clutch when I don’t want the full-size job.
