We sailed on the inaugural cruise of the new SUN Princess (February 28th) in a Reserve Collection Cabana Mini-Suite and loved the location of our cabin that opened directly onto the Cabana Deck. The cabin is smaller, since part of the space is taken up by the sunroom. My wife enjoyed reading out there on the mornings I slept in, but this is certainly a trade-off from a traditional mini suite. The Cabana Deck was rarely used by many people since it was too cool to enjoy the deck on some days. We discovered that any cabin classified as Cabana Mini-Suite has access to this deck, not just the cabins facing it directly, so it might get crowded in warmer climates. We are booked in a similar cabin in January, so we shall see. The Reserve Collection Dining Room got crowded around 7:00 pm each night, but this might change once the theater is operational. Overall, we loved the layout of the new ship, and will hold our decision on the Cabana Mini-Suite until January.

Totally understand what you mean about the balcony being a little bit underwhelming although to be honest from our perspective anything with a balcony looking over the sea would be incredible ha ha. Always longed to go on a cruise ❤

A middle of the room curtain system would be a game changer in the industry because I love the old design of their walk-in closet. I love it because someone can be changing their clothes and the other can open the balcony at the same time.

I was booking a Premium Deluxe Balcony or just deluxe balcony on Sun, and what I found was that the 3rd and 4th guest room is only offered with sofa by the balcony. If you prefer a bed by the balcony, I didn't find a balcony room on the deck plan that allowed for 3rd and 4th guest. There is a red dot in rooms that allow for up to 4 guests. You can look and see where widest part of room is, and that is where the bed is. Again, I couldn't find a room that included 3r and 4th guest with bed by balcony.

Considering the reserve mini suite for 2025 but only deck 9 is available for our sailing date. Do u know if the reserve mini suites are on the other upper deck or just on deck 9 only ? TIA also which side is better even or odd number for views ?

This one was on deck 17, and there are other decks besides 9. It is hard to say which side of ship without knowing the itinerary. Often at sea you are far from land. For us it becomes an issue of wanting a sunny or shady balcony.

Cruising on the Sun this fall. Bummed about the balcony furniture as it does not look comfortable at all and deluxe suites don’t even come with ottomans.
