I wouldn't call them changes really. It's the exact same course I remember just refreshed with good conditions now haha. The biggest change is the 9s are now switched.

You played it well! One of my favorite courses but simply can’t get myself to pay the new green fees compared to what they were before the renovation.

You played a nice round, just a suggestion, but a player who makes a lot of pars needs to work on putting, you are hitting the ball solid nearly every shot I can hear the compression on the video, so you have the shots.

Yeah in both arccos and Google maps it was all scans taken during the renovation. It has come a long way!

used to play this course a bunch when it opened 25ish years ago. those prices on their site ($125 weekday, $175 weekend) are looking a bit steep from what i was used to, even taking inflation into account. still i hope they can find success this time.

My buddies and I used to play there quite often too. I don't remember the prices back then, but it was affordable. $175 on a weekend is crazy. I'd rather play Cinnabar, which is a little cheaper. Seems like all the good courses raised their prices 30 - 40% in the past 12 months. Wente is anywhere from $208 - $218 to play on a Sunday morning. That's just crazy.

Definitely the price increase is sticker shock! I feel the prices are too high and even on weekends there are prime spots open like early morning slots. They are pushing that adult community and maybe going that route. I think it's a cool track but it's a little far and high on the price scale to merit the drive.

My home course! Before Covid you could get a monthly unlimited pass for 130. For 5 years I played it everyday after work. I would get 10 -12 holes in and it was almost as cheap as a gym membership but much more enjoyable than a treadmill. It is a course that plays easier once you know the tricks. For instance...on 2 hit a seven iron off the tee, it gets you past the road and its an easy PW to the green. On 4 same thing. There is a lot of trouble if you tempt fate.

People have mentioned that unlimited deal and I got to say that the value for that is INCREDIBLE. The good ole days haha. Still even now I say this course delivers great value for the course and conditions. Monterey peninsula golf is getting crazy with the price increases.

I switched last year and am playing better than ever, 72 yrs old, found that i can use lighter grip pressure thus loosening up more and hitting further and more accurate shots. I play with a med glove, so I use the xs sized jumbo grips.

Great question! I feel like it was a really cool track and honestly more unique when it comes to "desert" courses. Being so close to mountains was a treat and was cool in comparison to your typical desert courses in the area that remind me of AZ. I can't comment on the construction part of things as this was a while back but I for one would play this course again if I were to visit and play golf. I did not however make it out to any of the PGA West courses. Good luck!

They sell a 10-play pass that lowers your cost per round, and those rounds never expire. Twice a year they have a special: buy ten rounds, get three more for free. I have this deal and I think my unit cost per round is about $40, and I can play any round at any time. If you use them to play on Saturday mornings you've got a real bargain!
