I'm gonna build something like this beauty in tractor trailer truck form to haul semi truck trailers with cross country with 4 150 horsepower steam cylinders 600 horsepower in total and 300psi boiler pressure and propane fired and diesel gasoline and bio diesel vegatable oil fueled.

I was so fascinated by the sawyer I didn’t notice the huge steam tractor running the mill. Workers are like a colony of ants running to and fro. Great work ethic.

In 1998 I was tail sawer on a similar 1920 nickel mill sawing lumber for my house and my father in laws shop at the farm. Good hard work. We drove the mill with a flat belt off of a PTO angle drive from a 1070 Case tractor. Work well and speed was similar to this one. pay attention that lumber comes fast.

This is every bit as fast on the cut as any modern mill. Love it.

That is an efficient, well-thoughtout operation. Everybody is doing his job. The sawing never slows down and is producing maximum lumber production. I notice the sawdust is blown into a truck, possibly to be used as litter in their horse stables/barns. The enginemen are kept busy stoking their boilers and maintaining a safe water level. These engines would consume a lot of fuel and water running continuously like this. It would have been fun (and work) to be part of this operation.

That is quite an operation. I've never seen two engines powering a sawmill but I guess that is why they have more than one drive pulley. The whole crew looked well coordinated with no bottlenecks. The lumber production looked very good. I get to watch a demonstration sawmill like this at two shows each summer. It's always a fan favorite (mine too).
