my mom and dad have bean days late on the empire builder the best was 3 days late lol but we all know trains are not the fasted way to travel

mog5858 Given the chronic lateness of Amtrak trains, how do they handle a train that’s let’s say 16 hours late pulling into Salt Lake westbound knowing that an ontime train will be a few hours behind? Do they hold up the late train putting its passengers on the second and on-time train, or do the just send them on after the minimal Salt Lake, or Denver stop? This kind of thing has to occur with breakdowns, weather, rail damages, etc.
