FF12 is one of the main two FFs i grew up with (the other being ff10) and to this day its still my favorite non-MMO FF game, i absolutely it. The story, the characters, the gameplay, the artstyle. Just an absolute masterwork in my opinion

24:10 They really put a lot into the party movement I'm impressed. Here you see Red and Yuffie follow Cloud continuing up the tower way he came even as he has dropped down a platform. They also wait up there afterwards. In most games I've played with wandering party members they never do so well, especially in tight spaces like this tower, and the characters usually don't handle changing levels very well. Minor details like this can go overlooked and the amount of programming involved to decide when they should just teleport vs continue carrying out actions really is a testament to how far Square Enix has come. I can't help but recall the joke they made in FF8, if memory serves, about the party members being stuck inside the main character and jumping out only when needed for story.

Man i just had to take a swing at this mod since the game went on sale. Its crazy how kimarhi is my top guy when i never used him in vanilla.. It does, I've seen it in any playthroughs. And I assume that if any aeon was taught NulShock, they could likewise nullify Ixion's Thor's Hammer.

Isaaru certainly wasn't made to be the biggest roadblock, but a proper introduction to teaching your aeons abilities to make it through, which is something you hardly ever needed to do in the OG. I'm quite happy with how Ifrit and Ixion turned out - they hit quite hard but you got a good few options on how to work around it. Bahamut I'm not really satisfied with, but it's the third fight in a gauntlet so obscure mechanics that take more than a single attempt to figure out are a no go (IMO), and it's meant to remain faithful to the countdown mechanic, so there's fairly limited design space. I did take notes on making a more involved fight, but never felt like going back to tinker and finetune it yet. I probably will for the eventual version 1.9 or 2.0. I did also make all of them in such a way that there remains a method to beat them without teaching any abilities, without giving Yuna any of the given purple spheres (AGI/HP/MP) and without picking up the 2 Strength +4 nodes you can branch off to - if you want, take it as a little puzzle to figure out how they can be beaten that way.

I'm assuming that Valefore is the aeon of choice vs Bahamut in the hypothetical no-grinding situation? He does non-elemental damage, and may be able to steal turns with Sonic Wing delay mechanics, no?

I like watching people play ff12, but I’ve never liked the game itself. The gambit system was an all right unique mechanic, but I’ve just never understood why people like this one so much. I’ll be looking forward to this series and maybe it’ll give me the motivation to finish the play through I left off like 8 months ago. Subscribed 👍

The flans are a recurring thematic monster throughout the Final Fantasy franchise. This is pure conjecture but I imagine the origin of this beast had something to do with an employee eating flan and spilling some onto a keyboard or thumb drive causing code corruption that took some effort to fix and they made a joke out of it. There has to be some reason for the mousses and meringues- the gelatinous dessert type monsters to enter into the mythical beast fiend arena.

A summary of the LS brainstorm for ranking videos: 1. Rank the Mogs across the series (usefulness, annoying, etc) 2. Most memorable random encounters (these can be bosses if you didn't know they were bosses superbosses) - this one can be a little more personal 3. OST Tiers (for big engagement) , Battle themes [content id?] 4. GFs/Aeons/Summons tiers, Maybe rank the usefulness of each to their respective game, or top 10 list 5. Mini games tiers/top 10 6. NPCs in party/that never join party 7. Most frustrating mini games/bottom 10 8. "Old" characters tier list 9. Guest character tiers 10. Coolest looking spells 11. Super bosses 12. storyline moments/bosses top 10 13. Most satisfying/disappointing endings

I definitely think this will be an easy series. TZA is not a hard game to begin with, it was balanced around having one job but you get two jobs after Belias... Huge stats, multiple weapon and armor types per character lets you be very flexible. Elemental attacks + absorb for healing, measures and accessories can buff you... Probably most broken of all, you can just run by open world enemies very easily. I always found magic underwhelming in TZA because I liked to sequence break and you can get very powerful gear from chests, but magic is typically gated by story progression, so you can get very OP in an attack only style without even trying to do your specific challenge 😅 The main thing that sucks is no way to steal, which I think is the only way to get certain items. And of course you won't be able to do Chaos, so you'll never be able to do the full 100 trials 😔 Edit: just finished watching. You're still learning the game but once you get the hang of it, you'll be fine. Some tips: - Instead of fleeing, turn off your gambits and just run. Your characters can't evade/block while fleeing. - You can switch party leader in combat to take control and reposition your ranged attackers. - Set combat speed to fastest, otherwise you lose ATB against CT:0 enemies. - If you choose to grind for some gil (you're missing out on a lot of income by never stealing), a quick method can be to go into trial mode. The first trial has a chest that contains a diamond armlet which sells for 6000 gil each. Honestly I recommend this just so you can get the monographs quickly, they give you access to another loot table on types of enemies, which will help supplement your income. A side note that each run of trial mode 1 will also net you some LP which will also make you a bit more OP, unfortunately. You don't have to spend it though. - I know you want your gambits this way to maximize your control but it really is better to just have them set to attack lowest HP. - Lastly, regarding jobs... Ranged jobs are usually crap. Their accuracy is subject to weather penalties. Use two melee at a minimum. And three melee is even better, so you can leverage everyone's hp for taking hits. I know you mentioned a concern for AoE, but it's not that common and you can adjust if you encounter AoE. The best damage dealing jobs are Monk, Knight, Uhlan, Foebreaker, and Bushi. A Bushi will be squishy until you can get a second job so maybe make Bushi the second job. I honestly wouldn't bother with a Shikari, nor a Time Battlemage. The best part about Time is their magic but you'll never use it. Just run a second/third Machinist. Archer can be okay (as a second job) but I wouldn't be using them as an Archer unless I needed the range/elemental arrows.

The closest you could get to possibly surviving Shining is giving Wakka AutoProtect, Def + 20%, HP + 30%, HP + 20% and defending AND hoping he only gets hit twice. But even that's not quite enough to survive it, I think.

Last I calculated, you need HP +30%, HP +20%, Mag Def +20% and Mag Def +10% all on his armor AND spend a turn putting up Shell (or double HP). Sadly there seems to be no way without spending a turn for it, and well you really pretty much never get to setting it up since you're not gonna sacrifice damage turns for it and you lose it to every counter.

@@Karifean If you need to spend a turn for all that might as well Hyper Mighty G, but then you lose the headstart anyways... Is there a way to survive the counters with some amount of PDef + Protect + Cheers? So that the setup for Wakka would be Hyper Mighty G and Defend on round 1, then waiting for Trios? Giving up autophoenix for like HP+30,HP+20,MDef+20, PDef+20 and HyperMightyG
