Having covered FFVII to FFX in my Attack Only adventures, I decided to go back to a game whose system is pretty unique in the franchise which I had only played once before in 2017 with The Zodiac Age. My urge to play the game again had been slowly building, having been a huge fan of its world, overall gameplay and content package. So it felt only right to ask that classic question once again - Can I beat FFXII using only the attack command?
As always, I began creating this series having only gotten 4-6 hours into the game. I like not knowing the answer before starting, and as this game differs quite markedly in gameplay design from the FF7-10 block, it may prove to be very interesting. In doing this type of challenge I often learn more about these games, potentially come up with innovative strategies I wouldn't ordinarily need and always end up enjoying the investigation whatever the outcome.
With this type of content continuing to get great support and feedback even after 4 games being covered, I decided to continue on for 1 more adventure and we'll see where we go from here. It's nice to return to FFXII after so many years, and I hope you guys enjoy the series :)

Loving the series so far. You can gain 2-3 more attacks per fight by precasting it before the leader hits the main target.

The sand sea is although it's very long and grindy is one of my favourite areas of the game. You finally have the full party, the story sends you on a adventure and the area has so many secrets and hidden entrances to dangerous places you shouldn't visit at the time of the game but you obviously want to check them all out. The one thing I don't like that much is the long dungeon on the top. Although the first and optional demon wall boss is a nice challenge (not on attack only though :) Really enjoying this episode

I do enjoy the longer videos especially when there's a lot of strategy and experimentation involved in tougher boss fights. I'm really curious to see how the later bosses are going to defeated.

The entite enemies are completely harmless throughout this playthrough, since they are passive by default and any gambits you have set will never target a passive enemy. What makes them turn aggressive? Casting magic nearby! Awfully hard to cast magic in an attack only playthrough, no? Give those elementals a hug, if you want, theyll never attack you, not even once!

2:58 I think you were referring to Arcturus here, which you can normally get at this point in the game. However, for this particular challenge, I don't think it's possible to get it until quite a bit later. You normally use Steal to get a Wyvern Wing from the Mark you can fight in the Sandsea, though you can also Steal it from a rare monster on the Ozmone Plain after completing Raithwall (which is way easier). I think the only way to get it as a drop is from the Aeronite, which is pretty deep in the Lhusu Mines. This requires beating the Antlion Hunt and getting the key the kid dropped in the Phon Coast to get to. Also, the Salamand Halcyon is also required. You can get it at this point from either stealing from or killing the Salamand Entite in the Sandsea, but killing one at this point in the game would definitely require massively overleveling and possibly also require the Seitengrat. The best way to get OP equipment early in this challenge (besides the Seitengrat of course) would be to go to Mosphoran early after beating Raithwall. There are a bunch of chests in Mosphoran and Salikawood that have equipment that you could simply buy when you're supposed to be heading up there, but the shops don't actually sell them until you're supposed to be heading through there for the story.

The optional demon wall has a shorter path way and more health. The mandatory demon wall has a longer path and you can touch the flames on the left and right to make it stop or speed up. I believe its 3 speed ups and 5 stops? Note that these are not haste or stop starus ailments, but more like sprint or immobilize. Haste only changes action speed, not walking speed.

You talk about the Diamond Armlet and I absolutely see your point in using it for the lightning immunity, but youll have to remember to remove it constantly before you open chests, except a small amount of them, or all youll get is Knots of Rust....

Thankfully it's only effective on chests when it's equipped on the leader, and I believe he seems to know (I'm sure told to him) but didn't mention.

One thing you could try is making a character a Red Battlemage. This job has some physical capability and also learns healing magick, which would let you cure between battles without consuming potions.

I might be the only one, but I feel like I could watch 25 episodes of this lol Given that you can swap out characters (most of the time) and their equipment in the middle of the fight gives 12 a little more of a dynamic feel compared to the other ones so far

Can avoid traps easier by taking everyone out the party so it’s just you and they don’t randomly walk into the traps. Edit: you can also have the map on screen (not the mini map in top right) while you run around, think it was Select to bring it up

i did this challenge myself using your ruleset, because this is my favorite ff game, and i found the challenge to be fairly easy, at least for the main game but i think you could also manage to do most of the hunts without too much hassle. i did however use different classes because i dont like the classes you chose for this challenge, though i think you'll be fine even with you class choices. vaan-shikari fran-monk balthier-ulahn bashe-knight ashe-bushi penelo-archer the classes i used were very adept to simply dps every boss down quickly and have a lot of natural survivability, this was honestly one of the easiest challenge ive done in this game. hope you have fun finishing the challenge yourself and i'll be interested in seeing what you do to overcome certain things to come later in the game.

There is something i want to recommand. The Elder wyrm in the Golrom jungle is optional you do not need to fight him you can get to the parma rift viva south short visit to the forest in the south which leads back to the parma rift. Since i imagen that fight can be really really awfule in a attack only challenge I just want to inform you if you road block by him you can come back to him later. Since status protect gear is hard to come by at this point of the game. Also it avoid the need to grind just to get pass him. Another thing would be to look into gear that give postive status equiment for example. You can do now the side quest with the flower cactus which give you access to the norht side of the dalmasca eastersand there is a treasue chest with berserker greaver which will come very in handy for this typ of challange and is 100% even so easy to pick up. Since bersker give attack speed boost and damage boost. i would give these to Bathiler since with his gun he ignore defense and so big number but be carful against flans and ghost. the resist gun damage.

if you can keep it one story chapter per episode like the next one being from here up until you fight judge bergen, you can definitely fit the game within 8-9 episodes

In the OG you couldn't fast forward and use 4x so these areas became very exhausting, especially if you weren't getting on with the story and characters. TZA makes it a LOT more bearable but as a huge fan of the FF series I still shudder at this part of the game.

You can get those gold armlets to respawn super easy at this area to get multiples

If you are playing the original then beating demon wall 1 is def worth it for getting the deathbringer sword early for someone.

I beat the game with attacks and items, no dispels, no haste, no buffs on chars, just cura and keeping hitting boys!! Im not saying it was effective, but having already done it, completely doable :P Beating the fire dude who regens and summons more adds took me 8 hours of grinding to get strong enough to kill him faster then his regen. The whole time.. I'm dumb lol

Obviously I know you probably won't read this and if you do you're way past here anyway.....but especially in a playthrough like this one where you can't steal, it's really not a bad idea at all to spend time trying to get gear from chests. Especially if one is going to follow a guide, looking at maps for the upgrades to get for free can save so much money. Hell 18K is better spend right around this point to get the Hunter's Monograph as the long term gains way outweigh the initial purchase. As for skipping stuff....wonder if Elder Wyrm will be skipped....

It's also really fun to get a super long chain of Yensa in the Sandsea. It's where I usually get the Sky Pirate's Den achievement for getting a chain of 50.
