So if the trimmers touch their skin around the male cats private area it wont hurt them?
@ruthie_rosario8 күн бұрын
If you are using a guard (similar to the types that are typically used in men’s hair cuts) then no, it won’t hurt them. But if you’re not using a guard, it is easily possible to hurt the cat’s skin if you’re not extremely careful or if they are moving around.

My cats beat the hell out of me if they see a brush or comb. So they need the vet to groom since the only groomer isn't a cat groomer
@SweetWhiskersLLC5 ай бұрын
Some cats do really poorly for owner grooming just because it's their owner! Not because the owner is doing anything wrong. We applaud you for trying anyway! Sometimes those same kitties will do great for a well trained cat groomer (not just any groomer though, someone who's cat specifically trained). Of course we are super grateful to our vets who help when there's not any trained cat groomers local to you. Have you tried looking up a CFMG (certified feline master groomer) where you are? We wrote this article about finding a cat groomer, or at least learning how to spot a good cat groomer in the bunches of groomers out there. It does also include links to a map to find a CFMG local to you, we wish you all the best and hopefully you can find a cat expert near you too! www.whiskersinames.com/how-to-select-a-cat-groomer

Hi what size and attachments do you recommend for this kind of cut? Great job and thank you for being so informative xx
@SweetWhiskersLLC5 ай бұрын
Hi there, we are so sorry for missing this comment! We use a Ramoni clipper vac with our Wahl Bravura clippers, and we use the stainless steel attachments (not the plastic ones) for this trim. The suction is what makes all the difference on the finish though! Well that and a solid degreasing bath and thorough blow dry to prep the coat. That said our attachments kind of range anywhere from 1/4"- 3/4" depending on coat and what looks good for the coat thickness. In generally the looser the coat the shorter we can go and it still looks good, the tighter the coat the longer we can go and keep that nice look to it. We have several still images up close on our facebook/instagram accounts and we will be filming a new series specifically on these trims so stay tuned. ;) facebook.com/photo/?fbid=891856659396900&set=a.557096976206205

Amazing. It's so lovely to see a fellow groomer who is gentle, doesn't scruff or use force holds, which unfortunately I see a lot on videos online. And of course it doing it all solo which is the most difficult skill to learn! You're doing a fantastic job!
@SweetWhiskersLLC5 ай бұрын
We are huge advocators for gentle grooming and feel scruffing needs to be used with extreme caution. I personally only use it when it's a very appropriate setting only (ie emergency holds and safety holds only). I so rarely use it, it just builds trust with kitty and me and I find we have a better working relationship together! And yes, it takes a lot of training to go solo but I find it makes you really challenge those holds and handling techniques to really assess what's best for kitty in those moments. Thank you for the compliments it means a lot to get feedback from fellow groomers!

As heartbreaking as this is, someone needs to do this. It's good that you don't just continue going. So many people ignore the bodies of pets hit by cars, leaving their owners without closure and wondering whether their baby could still be alive. I don't know what I'd ever do if my cat went missing and was never found. I'd probably relapse deep into depression, as she's a major source of comfort for me. The world needs more people like you, who take action when it's needed. 💔

After this how long does it take for hair to grow ??
@SweetWhiskersLLC9 ай бұрын
Typically the hair grows about a half an inch per month. She's actually already come back in and you can see in the still photo chosen for the thumbnail her hair after just 8 weeks and it measured just over an inch. The tail is what takes the longest to come back to it's full glory... and can sometimes take up to a full year to regrow in well. Great question.

What of I just put them on
@SweetWhiskersLLC9 ай бұрын
I am so sorry I didn't respond to this, I don't know why I didn't see this. If you just put them on, you can do the same thing. If the glue is still wet that's even better as you can just slip them off and clean the paw immediately so the skin or fur doesn't get stuck to it. But if the glue has hardened, just treat it the same way as if it's been on there and it's ready to come off at the end of the growth cycle, follow the same steps shown here.

Jude & Jerry, we use Chubbs bars as a shampoo here in our salon and also recommend it for at home bathing as well. It is an organic shampoo bar that was specifically created for cat's. But most importantly it is an amazing de-greaser, which is cutting the problem your specifically trying to solve. A lot of vets will recommend an antibacterial or antifungal shampoo with a 10min soak time. We have found that this is a very common recommendation in some area's of the country, but not always effective Or the lack of pet parent follow up makes this hard for it to be succussful. Not that it can't work, but it needs to be done very frequently and most people simply don't have the time to do so. We absolutley NEVER recommend dishwashing liquid, it is very very drying to the skin and causes more damage than help in our professional opinion. At home cleansing on a cotton ball is a simple straight forward easy task, most owners can do consistantly- so this is what we see as the MOST effective tool for pet parents, coupled with switching out food bowls/water bowls for either stainless steel or cermaic, but avoiding plastic. Those two switches/aids help the most when combating this with your own feline.
