So glad she got relief, as that matting must've been very unpleasant!!!
@SweetWhiskersLLC11 күн бұрын
Agreed! She's now been on a regular bath and blow dry schedule with no mats in sight! And Mom reports she's super snuggly after grooming sessions now and feels so good strutting around the house!

What a lovely, calm lassie

She is a pretty chill cat. A nice temperament to work with. As a behaviorist groomer we do see all sorts of cat personalities come in, but she definitely falls into the super nice category. We'll have to do more content on other types too!

@hannahmvelasco that's so awesome!! I love when pet parents teach such a crucial cooperative care skill!

That is a really cooperative cat! I have to have my Himalayan sedated in order for him to be shaved.

Oh we totally get that. Since we center the cats experience as a behaviorist groomer we really focus on matching the correct service with the temperament of the cat. I like to compare it to a mechanics work, not every car that comes in needs a break change...some need an engine tune up or transmission work. So in cat grooming we look at the entire picture. If your himi is a more reactive cat to the shaving process they would fall into the category of a more combative cat. For us those cats do way better with just a simple bath and blow dry to prevent mats rather than reactively shaving the mats after they've formed. It matches their temperament better and the relationship with the cat and groomer is way more peaceful too. You can check out our emi video, she came in wicked aggressive and now that we don't do any shave work and only bath and blow dries she's a total love bug with us! That's the kind of change we want to see for the entire grooming industry but especially cat services. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaa4g6ljpqdqr7M

My cats beat the hell out of me if they see a brush or comb. So they need the vet to groom since the only groomer isn't a cat groomer
@SweetWhiskersLLC7 ай бұрын
Some cats do really poorly for owner grooming just because it's their owner! Not because the owner is doing anything wrong. We applaud you for trying anyway! Sometimes those same kitties will do great for a well trained cat groomer (not just any groomer though, someone who's cat specifically trained). Of course we are super grateful to our vets who help when there's not any trained cat groomers local to you. Have you tried looking up a CFMG (certified feline master groomer) where you are? We wrote this article about finding a cat groomer, or at least learning how to spot a good cat groomer in the bunches of groomers out there. It does also include links to a map to find a CFMG local to you, we wish you all the best and hopefully you can find a cat expert near you too! www.whiskersinames.com/how-to-select-a-cat-groomer

After this how long does it take for hair to grow ??
@SweetWhiskersLLC11 ай бұрын
Typically the hair grows about a half an inch per month. She's actually already come back in and you can see in the still photo chosen for the thumbnail her hair after just 8 weeks and it measured just over an inch. The tail is what takes the longest to come back to it's full glory... and can sometimes take up to a full year to regrow in well. Great question.
